Chapter 49

Hazel's POV

I stared at the phone. There was no way that this was happening right now.

Lorena glanced at me, the phone was still in her out-stretched palm.

"Well, are you going to pick up or not. You promised that you would tell him as soon as you got the chance, whether it was a call or in person."

I felt a bead of sweat form on my forehead as Lorena echoed the very words I said a few minutes ago.

The tension in the air was heavy, like someone had increased the gravity in the room. Suddenly, the phone stopped ringing and the tension vanished. I took a deep breath and lunged for my phone before it rang again and put it on airplane mode. I was more than certain that he would call again.

Lorena watched me with judgely eyes and I tried not to lock my eyes with hers.

"Hazel, you promised..."

"Lorena, I know." I said with an exasperated sigh of disappointment. "I just can't. I will tell him but not yet. I just don't have the courage to tell him."

"Well that explains a whole lot."
