Scorned by her family

Brielle's POV

My whole body began to burn from within but not a single sweat dropped from my body.

No way! I was standing right in front of my mate.

Was that the reason he bid that amount for me? Was he aware?

I felt like my heart was squeezing very hard in my chest and I could barely breathe.

"Do you understand?" His cold deep voice brought me back to reality.

Understand what? He must have said something, but I didn’t even hear.

His blue eyes was shining behind his mask with a terrifying intensity. He looked like he wanted to hurt me.

I cleared my throat awkwardly. "I understand."

"Understand what?"

I smiled a little, trying to ease the tension. "I'm sorry, but I was-- er, carried away."

“You're smiling?” He said stiffly and my eyes widened at the impact of his voice

Suddenly, he grabbed my chin roughly. "You must think I'm a joke since I bid on a worthless omega like you!"

I gasped, my face filled with despair.

How could he call me that?

His grip became tighter on my chin and the pain was becoming unbearable. He lowered his head towards my maybe and my heart emptied.

What was he trying to do? Kiss me? I thought in alarm.

My heart hammered at the implication of what was happening.

"Go say your goodbyes. You have just five minutes. Then my guards will come pick you up!"

I squeezed my eyes shut as his hot breath landed on my skin.

My skin tingled while I was still burning from within.

Why was I even thinking he was going to kiss me? He didn’t seem like the romantic kind.

He jerked his hands off my face, and without glancing at me anymore, he walked away.

I could only glare at his retreating figure. He was such a dangerous and weird man.

My mate! My heart made a wild leap. I had finally found him. And I belonged to him now.

But why couldn't I see his face? Why was he wearing a mask?

A smile was plastered on my face as I raced back home.

At least I can have my freedom, I would be free from Mom and Dad's mistreatments.

I would have that good life I always craved for. Settle down and have a child of my own with my mate. My face flamed hot as I thought about that.

On getting home, I went straight to my room, ignoring the annoyed sidelong glances my family members gave me.

"Dad, mom. I'm leaving," I announced, dragging my box alongside me.

Dad barely glanced at me while Mom just nodded in my direction and looked away.

They didn't care one bit whether I died or I lived.

They were probably happy to finally get me out of their house. I shook my head with sadness.

"So you got sold to the ugly alpha?" I heard Gizelle's derisive snicker.

"You probably think you're lucky since he's rich, right?" Zidelle joined in.

I just glared at them, not uttering a word.

They were just jealous since their bidder didn't place such a huge price on them.

"You can go to hell! Both of you!" I shitted back at them and they both erupted into laughter.

"Feeling like the queen of the rings? Don't you know him, you bidder? The alpha that wears a mask. Alpha Hades. You have not heard the rumors? I believe it's you that's going to hell!"

My gaze flickered between both of their faces. Raw hatred seeped out of their eyes, and I knew they probably wished they were in my shoes.

What rumors could there possibly be about my bidder?

At that moment, the realization sunk in. I remembered him. Alpha Hades? The ugly alpha? Cursed by the moon goddess because of his brutality and cruelty?

It was said that he always wore a golden mask.

"Did you recall anything? You look like you want to cry," Giselle said and they burst into laughter, even Dad and Mom joined in.

It was Dad's turn to talk now as he turned to face me. "You've always wanted to leave this house where you are loved and cared for. Now this is an opportunity for you, what are you waiting for? Go! Go and meet your bidder!"

I watched in horror as everything played before my eyes like a dream. Would going to live with the alpha turn out to be worse than the live I lived with my family?

No! There has to be something else they could do to help me. They could revoke the bid or something. I can't possibly-----

But what if the rumors were not true? What if Hades wasn’t truly a killer?

It could have been made up by people who were just out to destroy the alpha. Maybe he wears the mask for another reason.

"Do you know what your alpha lord is capable of?" Zidelle sneered in derision.

"They say he kills and cuts off the limbs of women who fail to satisfy him in bed. He rips out their bones."

“Stop caring the little cat, let her go and see things for herself,” mother’s voice came. She had a blank facial expression.

How could she be so heartless as to send her daughter to such a cruel alpha? Why did she hate me so much? What have I ever done to these people for them to hate me this way?

I couldn't take it anymore.

"Mom! Do you even have a conscience at all? How can you say that to your daughter? Have you ever even seen me as your daughter before? I'm about to be sent out to an alpha who derives pleasure in killing women and you still want me to go?"

At once she flew into a rage, jerking off her chair and taking long strides towards me.

Before I could realize what was happening, she smacked me hard on my left cheek and the sound cut across the living room.

I could feel my head throbbing and I could taste blood just at the corner of my lips. I gave her a hard and hurtful look.

Did I even mean anything to them? Was I even their daughter?

"How dare you glare at me you worthless bitch!" She thundered and delivered another slap to my face.

"You've always wanted to go out of this house, and now you're blaming us for being bought by an evil alpha?"

I fell on my knees with a loud thud. I couldn't possibly go to the alpha. I didn't even have any experience enough to satisfy him in bed. I wasn't just ready to die.

"Mom, Dad! Please, help me out!" I cried. "I don't want to go to the alpha, please!"

I hugged her leg tightly, stopping her from moving.

"Get off me you crazy bitch!" She screamed as she kicked her foot into my stomach.

The pain shook my entire body as tears streamed freely down my face.

I struggled to stand up and went to where Dad was sitting.

"Dad, please do something, please?" I rubbed my palms together, begging.

He stared at me for a long time, and for a tiny bit of a second, I thought he was going to help me out.

He had every connection he needed to put me out of this mess. He could even speak to the auctioneer to return the money to the alpha, and then compensate the auctioneer.

"Dad, this girl wants to bring wrath upon your head. The alpha is a cursed man, and anyone who ever has anything to do with him will become cursed too," Zidelle chimed in, trying to make sure he wasn’t possibly considering helping me.

"Dad, you can't help her!" Giselle whined too. "You can't let this Carey bitch jeopardize our lives!"

"Alright, this is what I will do," Dad said as he suddenly stood up and held my wrist.

He began dragging me towards the door while I cried and begged.

"Dad, please. You can't do this to me. It wasn’t my fault that he picked me during the auction, please! I don't want to go anymore. I'll stay here with you, please help me!"

My pleas fell on deaf ears as he roughly dragged me outside where some burly-looking men were standing.

"Take her to her buyer, alpha Hades!"

“Father no, please.”
