Chapter 40

Amelia's POV

I slowly opened my eyes, feeling groggy and disoriented. It took me a moment to remember where I was – lying in the infirmary, surrounded by sterile white walls and the faint scent of antiseptic. It seemed I had been asleep for a while, my body finally succumbing to the exhaustion that had plagued me for days.

With a deep breath, I sat up in bed, feeling the dull ache of needles in my skin. Grimacing, I reached out and pulled the IV needle from my arm, wincing at the sharp sting of pain.

“Fuck!.” I exclaimed softly.

As I stood up, a wave of dizziness washed over me, but I shook it off, determined to find some answers. Walking towards the door, I pushed it open slowly, the hinges creaking softly in protest.

The hallway outside was dimly lit, the soft glow of overhead lights casting long shadows along the walls. "Hello, is anyone there?" I called out, my voice echoing faintly down the empty corridor.
