Forty five
Damien’s POV
“Who marked her Alpha Damien?”
Her crimson eyes glowered at me
“Why does that matter?”
I didn’t want to tell her everything. The less people knew the better.
“Alpha Damien, if it was not you who marked her then you need to tell me right now who it was.”
Alpha Phoenix was annoyed, her eyes remain on me the entire time and I could hear the whispers of her guards. The panic of knowing what Irina is.
“You might as well tell her.” Austin nods towards me “Or we are probably not leaving anytime soon”
Irina’s POVI try the handle; it was no surprise to find it locked. A chill runs over me, I knew he was behind me before I turned around. Slowly turning, I see him leaning against the stair railing. His hands in his pockets, freshly shaven and wearing a shirt and jeans. His eyes do not meet mine; he keeps his gaze slightly lowered. “I am truly sorry for what I did” I stay rooted to the spot. I couldn’t tell if he was being genuine or not. “Y…You cannot apologise for something like that.” Looking around, there was no where for me to escape. I was trapped here with him. “It is not something I can control Irina. You don’t understand. You were promised to me, and my wolf and I have been waiting a long time for you.” Ivan holds a frown, which was puzzling me. He didn’t have anything to frown about, he wasn't the victim. “Are you going to try that again?” “I don’t intend to”
Damien’s POVWhen we land in Iceland, the temperature had already dropped. You could definitely tell that we were tourists with the way we were wrapped up in coats, hats and thick snow trousers. Some humans looked at us oddly but what I was most surprised about was the number of wolves that were here and news of our arrival spread like wild fire. Some of them welcomed us, while others gave us the side eye.Austin and I found a café and as we were sitting down a huge man moves over to us. It was obvious he was a wolf by his scent, but he was different to others that we had seen. His ears were pointed just like Ivan’s, his eyes dark and unlike others around here, he was shirtless, revealing his large muscles.“Who are you and what are you doing here?”He leans forward on the table, resting on his knuckles. A clear indicator that he did not want us here.“We are seeking someone”
Irina’s POV “UHHH” I groan as Ivan appears above me. He looks at me and then his eyes travel south. “Well, I would say you have broken your leg in a couple of places. This is probably going to hurt.” Ivan crouches beside me, the streetlight giving him an eerie glow in the dark. He rips my joggers apart to reveal my broken leg just as Shaun appears by my side. Ivan’s cold hands run over my skin, a scream rips through me as he adjusts my leg and I could feel myself panting. “You will heal properly within a couple of hours, can you walk?” I can’t answer, I just lay there trying to work out what was going on. Neither Ivan nor Shaun seemed bothered about the fighting that I had heard. “Why did you climb out the window?” Shaun asks curiously as he offers me a hand and I see Ivan roll his eyes. Refusing to take it, I push myself to a sitting position and look at my bare leg, the skin wound was already healing but it didn’t stop the pa
Irina’s POV It was such a relief to hear Damien's voice even if it was only in my head. Yet, no matter what I did, I couldn’t communicate back with him. There was no light in the dungeon, other than a small window in the top of the rafters. I could tell the sun was up by the tiny glow that forced its way in and the shadows that were cast in the roof. My leg throbbed and felt a little swollen, but I try to make myself comfortable on the crappy piece of wood that was my bed. I would still rather be here than in Ivan’s bedroom. The screams and wails didn’t stop and as much as I tried to sleep I just couldn’t. I had heard Damien; At least he was still thinking about me. Although his words were a little cryptic. What did he
Damien’s POVIt was the longest twenty-four hours I had ever experienced.Alpha Ketill stuck to his word. Austin and I were allowed to move around his pack without any guards. The people here greeted us but still kept their distance. After all, we were outsiders, we didn't belong. For meals we were asked to join Alpha Ketill, who always seemed very happy to see us. Maybe a little too happy but at least we were not just thrown into their dungeons like Austin expected.Alpha Ketill asked us many questions about Irina and Kelly. He was sad to hear of his daughters passing and tells us that he regretted not patching things up with Kelly because he never got to see his granddaughter grow up.“Tell me, does Irina look l
Irina’s POVI heard her, the omega or worker, whatever she was. She told Damien to get me out of here.I pretend to not have heard. Honesty I was so overwhelmed with what had just happened. The beast just came out of me. I had no control over it, nor was I expecting it.The beast I had fought against looked just like me. I had never seen another one that looked like me. I had heard the word granddaughter thrown about, was the other beast my grandfather? The Blood Alpha??It was hard to process, everything becomes hazy when I shift.“Irina, please speak to me”Damien lowers me to my feet, but I could
Damien’s POV A challenge! He wanted everyone to compete in a challenge to win her. Irina was mated to me! I looked at Irina’s trembling body as she understood what was happening. I wanted to go to her, I needed to protect her and yet I had walked her straight into this, this was no better then what Ivan was doing to her. Ivan is sat in the crowd too; I thought he was supposed to be elsewhere? He raises his drink to me and smiles. He knew I didn’t stand a chance against any of these men. If anything, he was going to be the champion. Alpha Ketill puts a barrier in front of Irina, giving out orders that no one is to pass or they would lose their heads. He then summons slaves forward, demanding that they strip Irina in front of the men so that they could see the ‘goods’ that they would be winning. I was mortified for her; she shouldn’t be treated this way. Least of all by her grandfather! The slaves pull off the huge tshirt she is wearing, and she stands there, desperately trying to c
Irina’s POV I was taken at some point in the night. Barely awake when I was pulled from my bed. Gunnar apologises over and over again for doing this. There was no point in trying to fight him. He was only following what the Alpha had told him, besides he was massive and I never stood a chance. Gunnar refuses to let me walk, insisting that he needed to mask my scent which was only possible if he carried me. He was the first one to tell me this and I wondered if that was why Ivan had always carried me. “Why is he doing this?” “It is a century old tradition. You have just not been brought up around our traditions and now that you are here, Alpha Ketill will probably bring back many other traditions too.”
