Irina’s POV
I don’t know how I managed it, but I somehow convinced Gunnar that Alpha Ketill was doing something to the Blood Pack, and that he was keeping them all inline. Oddly Gunnar didn’t even challenge me.
“He does have magic or power or something, doesn’t he? The day I saw you and him, I knew something wasn’t right and then he pressed his hand on my chest” He tries to keep his words low, “I felt something strange.” His grip loosens on me enough that I am able to slip my hand out, but the other wolves were listening in. It was just as Alpha Ketill said, there was no point in whispering. They heard everything!
I just nod my head at him, suddenly becoming very aware that we were now being watched.
“Can you stop him?”
The other wolves move closer to us, they clearly didn’t like what we were saying, and I shake my head at Gunnar. The small movement of my head stops everyone from moving and they go back to watching the war, waiting to be told
Irina’s POV I watch the light slowly dim in his eyes, just as I had watched Damien’s life drain from him. Ketill was still frozen to the spot, he couldn’t do anything about the dagger sticking out of his chest. This time his death was final, there was no coming back from it, I would make sure of it. The blood trickles out around the dagger and I remembered how Damien had told me not to remove the dagger sticking out of my mom because it would make things worse, the blade had been keeping everything from escaping, stopping her from dying on the spot. I couldn’t have that with Ketill. I could not have him survive my stabbings twice and I rip the blade from him sending a fountain of deep red spraying through the air. “Irina” he gasps as the blood flows fast, but we all know that once the heart has been touched, there was no coming back from it. His body falls back with a heavy thud as he hits the ground. I had done it; I had really killed the Alpha of Bl
Damien’s POVI understood now why my father never wanted me involved with Irina. He constantly wanted me to stay away and yet keep her in the pack. He must have known that she wasn’t just any wolf and I didn't mean the news that she was a Blood Alpha, he must have known that she could compel people to act in certain ways. I saw it for myself when all those wolves were unable to move.I was certain that I loved her, at least I thought I did, When I first met her, she slipped into my head when I was trying to concentrate on other things. Yet I couldn't get her out of my head or ignore the way her honey coloured eyes always focussed on me. Even the way she looked over her shoulder and the way her body trembled under my touch was always on my mind. Could it all be a lie? Could she have made me feel all those things?Maybe Ivan really was the better man for her at least he could help her control her wolf.I make my way back to my pack, only shiftin
Irina’s POVThe Blood Pack wolves were on their knees in submission, their bare necks all aimed at me. Gunnar kneeling in front of them, his eyes on me, waiting for my acceptance to be the new Blood Alpha. but I just couldn’t. I was not Alpha material; Blood Pack were nothing to do with me!“I am sorry Gunnar, but I am not your Alpha.” He looks sad rather than annoyed.Gunnar slowly rises “We will be waiting for you”He turns to the other Blood wolves who all appeared shocked that I wasn’t accepting the role.“Collect the deceased, it is time to return home until Alpha Irina returns.” Gunnar still had some hope that I would join them, but he would have a long wait because I was never planning on going back there. The war was over, and the Blood Pack move out, taking the bodies of those that had died. They even removed Ketill’s corpse and Gunnar informs me that he would be disposed o
Irina’s POVI was knocked over by his scent. It wasn’t just how he knocked me to the ground but as his wolf pressed against me, holding me down to the ground, I could smell him and every fibre of my being was responding to his touch, whether he was wolf or human, I knew we belonged together.“Damien?” his teeth let go of my wrist as I say his name.“Keep quiet” he links me, an urgency in his voice to keep my own hushed.I lay still and in silence, basking in his touch and I knew he wanted it as much as I did. Instead of speaking out loud I link him, “What are you doing?”“Trying to hide your scent from Ivan”I remain silent, listening to the movement between the trees and trying to ignore the rustling of leaves. Since having my ears cut, sound was different, stronger and I was able to pick out certain sounds if I paid close enough attention. Ivan wasn’t far from us, his scent
Damien’s POVHer hands become more frantic, travelling across my skin with desire. Irina was in full heat as I fought against Aiden and every fibre of my being. I knew it would be wrong to take advantage of her like this, but her scent was drawing me in. I held her tightly as I ran through the forest, the aim was to get her back to my pack, away from prying eyes and then I will decide if I will act on my impulses.Aiden was begging me to just take her here in the forest. He was just as desperate to fully mate us but the forest wouldn’t be right, not for our first time together.Irina’s lips travel along my chest, pying me with kisses as she flicked my nipples. Her honey eyes were darkening with lust, and it would only be a matter of time until she couldn’t hear me or understand what I was saying. Her mind becoming thick with a lustful haze but I had to be careful, her scent would attract other unmated men if I didn’t move quick enou
Irina’s POVI stretch my limbs out, feeling the ache of my muscles and the dull throb between my legs, reminding me of the intense night. Every moment with Damien had been amazing, he had taken his time getting to know my body and I had done the same in return. We were more than compatible; we were perfect for each other. I roll over and take in the mess of the room and let out a laugh, we really had been busy! I realise that Damien isn’t next to me and hadn’t been for some time, the floor was cold but his scent still hung in the air. I lay back and stretch again, a smile spreading across my face as images of us flashed through my mind.“Getting up sleepy head?” Damien’s voice filters in through my mind.“I guess”, I groan back at him and feel him laugh. He tells me he is in the kitchen and will still be there when I decide to make an appearance.Making the most of my time alone, I hop in the shower before s
Damien’s POVIt wasn’t at all what I wanted, and I knew it wouldn’t be what Irina wanted. As I listen to Gunnar, it all makes sense. Irina was the Blood Alpha, the only heir to the throne. There was no denying it, it was who she was and she wouldn’t be able to deny it either. Alphas could not just leave their packs, they had to be killed or forced to bow to another Alpha.“And I guess you want me to tell her?” I mumble at Gunnar, already knowing the answer. He nods his head, “You are mated, it is best that it comes from you”I hand him a plate of food. I had come down purposely to make breakfast for Irina and myself, but the huge man had already made himself comfortable at the table and had poured himself a coffee. “Alpha Damien, we need to discuss your mate”He could talk while I cooked. I was starving and I was certain Irina would be too. He told me that her Blood is what makes her the A
Irina’s POVStaring into Gunnar’s eyes was weird. It wasn’t the same as looking into Damien’s or even Ivan’s, it felt like I was breaking him down in some way, invading his own thoughts in a way that he could not resist me. I tell him to bring Blood Pack to Black Crescent, including the people that had stayed behind in the mountains. It would be the last time I would use the mind control. It just didn’t sit right with me but at least I wouldn’t have to go all the way to the mountains, and I would get to stay with Damien.“Are you sure this is what you want?” Damien looks out the window and watches Gunnar disappear into the forest.“I can’t Damien, I just can’t leave not now, not ever. I should never have tried to leave.” He nods his head at me, but I could see by his wrinkled forehead that he was deep in thought. “Besides, I can’t leave you with a witches spell on you.&rdqu
