Author's POV

Ariel sniffed as she made her way away from the alley. Trying her best to ignore her adoptive father who called out behind her. They were at it again and Ariel wasn't cut out for their trouble. This was all due to her carelessness.

Even though she feels prideful to admit it, Collin had been the one saving her ass before they were forced to leave the city in which she had gotten to know him. If he had been around, Ariel would definitely not be in the mess she was in at the moment.

The mistake Ariel did the moment she got to fox city and was able to trail Collin again, was tell him the truth.

"Ariel!" Tom her adoptive father called out again.

The alley was dark, but she knew he wouldn't do something stupid and try to hit her. Someone would come to her rescue, and he would definitely get exposed.

"You slimy bitch!" He growled behind her when she eventually stopped in her tracks.

Ariel turned to him trying to hide her tears. "Yes, dad!" The dad word almost choked her.
