5. Male Mistress

"Do you have any beer, bitch?"

"Can you not call me that? If you dare call me that, then you should call my mother 'the bitch's mother.' Do you want to do that?" Tammy lazily replied to Jessica's words, but she still got up from the sofa and walked towards her kitchen. "And it's still sunny outside. Are you sure you want to have a beer?" She added without looking at the older woman.

Jessica didn't go straight home after returning from the hotel. She instead decided to seek refuge in Tammy's apartment, but it seemed like her assistant did not welcome her warmly.

But Jessica probably didn't care even if the younger woman didn't warmly welcome her. She still considered that place as her home, and she could even casually sit on the carpet while leaning her tired back against the front of the sofa. It wasn't just her blonde hair that looked messy, even her face was messy, and maybe that was the reason Tammy didn't kick her out of her nest.

"Is there a label on the beer can that says I can't drink beer during the day?" Without a care, Jessica answered her assistant.

This time, the assistant did not argue verbally, and she simply walked silently toward the refrigerator in the kitchen before taking out two cans of beer. After closing the refrigerator door, she walked back into her living room before placing the cans on the coffee table.

Jessica noticed the presence of the beer, and she didn't say anything as she reached out her hand to take one of the cans. Skillfully opening the lid, she then greedily drank the contents.

Tammy chose to sit on the gray couch instead of sitting with the older woman on the carpet, and she furrowed her brows as she continued to stare at the woman. "It looks like you just lost your soul, sis. What happened? Does it have something to do with... your husband?" Carefully, Tammy tried to question the blonde woman.

Jessica always thought her assistant had a childish appearance and personality. She had a bob haircut and even wore round glasses, and she looked younger than her actual age. However, Jessica had to admit that her assistant was often quite sensitive, and that was probably why she chose to go after the younger woman after she received the big surprise at the hotel today.

Jessica suddenly remembered the conversation she and her husband had before leaving the hotel and heading to Tammy's place.

["Your words are too harsh, Jess. You make me look like a criminal," Noah answered her question, and he even frowned in displeasure when he said that sentence.

"Aren't you a criminal?" Coldly, Jessica replied to the man. "You've been lying to me for more than three years. You've been fooling around with a man behind my back for years, right? That explains why you're often busy with your phone when we're together. Even when we've just had sex, you're always looking for your phone and playing with it for hours. But maybe you thought I didn't notice, right? Maybe that man is also the reason behind the many business trips you've been on all this time, right?"

Jessica seemed to have just woken up from her daydream when she finally noticed her husband's suspicious behavior. In the past three years, she never checked her husband's phone because she respected his privacy, and she also did not interfere in his work life for the same reason. But now she could connect the dots, and that was why she suddenly felt stupid all this time.

In the end, she didn't get a verbal answer from her husband, but the silence was enough to confirm her suspicions. Her husband really had been cheating on her for years.]

"Are you okay, sis? Why are you suddenly quiet? You even stopped drinking your beer."

Jessica's chain of thoughts was suddenly interrupted by Tammy's questions, and she blinked as she shifted her gaze to look at the younger woman. "I'm fine," she replied as she continued sipping her beer. "If I told you that my husband had been cheating on me this whole time, would you believe me?"

Tammy's eyes, which were framed by round glasses, widened when she heard Jessica's question. "What did you just say? Is it true that your husband is cheating on you?" She asked in disbelief.

"That's right," Jessica answered as she placed the empty can on the coffee table, then she took the other can in her hand before continuing, "That's the reason we saw him at the hotel earlier today."

The first can of beer was empty, and that's why Jessica moved on to another can. Without looking at her assistant's reaction, she began to sip the contents of the second can.

Tammy was silent, but her face was still filled with disbelief. Maybe she was trying to process everything, but then she seemed to realize something before asking, "So, your husband was with his mistress at the hotel? But I didn't see any woman with him when I saw him at the hotel. I only saw a man at the swimming pool."

Tammy looked very curious, she even tilted her head while waiting for Jessica's answer.

This time, Jessica took a deep breath and was silent for a moment. She also remembered the man in the swimming pool, and that was the reason behind her dark expression.

"That's the male mistress. The man in the swimming pool is Noah's boyfriend."

Tammy seemed shocked when she heard Jessica's answer, she even immediately got off the sofa before rushing to the older woman's side. "Are you telling the truth, sis? Noah is having an affair with a man? The third wheel in your relationship with him is a man?" She barraged the older woman with questions.

"Unfortunately, I can't say that that man is the third wheel between me and Noah, Tam," answered Jessica weakly. "In fact, I was the third wheel because I came into Noah's life later than that guy."
