70: Silent Strength

LISA’S POV

My gaze fell upon Alpha Asher, his statue bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun. My eyes roamed his body, taking note of the bruises scattered around his arms.

"Are you hurt?" I asked, my voice barely rising above a whisper. He shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. “But you are bleeding” I protested, my hand lifting to point at a fresh cut by his side.

But his eyes, those deep pools of blue, told a different story. “it’s nothing serious, Lisa. Just minor bruises”

My eyes moved behind him, noticing the injured men been carried off to the pack healer but I didn’t see Jonas, making me wonder his where about.

“Did you find Jonas?” The question lingered, heavy and haunting in the still air. Asher’s gaze fell to the ground, sorrow was deeply carved into his features, a silent echo of the battles he had endured. “He is still out there but I will find him even if it’s the last thing I do”
