Genesis 1

“The difference between an hunter and a Hunter is the hunted”

It all started five thousand years ago after a god visited the mortal world in the guise of an injured man, he appeared before a couple who were out hunting late into the night, out of fear for the unknown the husband suggested that they leave as soon as possible lest the creature that injured the man comes after them as well but the female species are totally filled with love and compassion, after so much deliberation the wife was able to convince her husband to stay and help the injured man and they began to tend to his injuries, after patching him up he suddenly revealed his identity as a god and as a reward for her compassion he blessed the wife with the gift of archery. That gift of archery granted her eyesight that rivaled that of an eagle and it also granted her the ability to shoot arrows that flew like streaks of light, allowing her to kill her targets even before they could react.

Three months later…

The sun was high in the sky but a gloomy atmosphere was present in the forest as fog filled the air limiting the vision of a regular human to little more than five metres, but in this forest was a young woman who could see well beyond a kilometer, a bow hung on her shoulder and a quiver filled with arrows lay across her back, her brown curly shoulder length hair was packed into a ponytail, her red lips were curled upward in a slight smile as she walked forward leisurely as though this was just an evening stroll, right beside her was a man who appeared to be at the peak of his youth, he was of average height and build, he held tightly in his right hand a spear and a long sword and a short sword sat comfortably on his waist but the man himself did not seem so comfortable as he glanced around nervously which was an absolute contrast to the woman beside him who appeared carefree.

“Amelia I really think we should go back home, I don’t feel good about this expedition.” Elliot said nervously

“Don’t worry, there is nothing within a kilometer radius.” Amelia replied sweetly and Elliot sighed

“Ever since you got those all seeing eyes of yours you’ve grown overconfident that you seemed to abandon your sixth sense.” Elliot complained bitterly as he recalled the night she gained her powers

“First of all they aren’t all seeing and secondly my eyes are my first sense it is very normal for me to trust them more than my sixth invisible sense.” Amelia with a roll of her eyes

“Well to be honest, I trust my instincts more than your all seeing eyes and right now I feel as though a huge monster is looking at me from within the fog.” Elliot said as he took a nervous glance around him

“You’re too superstitious Elliot, monsters are just old wives tales told to scared kids.” Amelia said with a chuckle and Elliot frowned slightly

“If I’m too superstitious, how about the god that gave you your powers, is he also a myth?” Elliot said with a sneer and Amelia was rendered speechless, the awkward silence persisted for a few moments then all of a sudden the earth began to tremble beneath them, it was lightly at first but the intensity began increasing till it got to a stage where they couldn’t even stand firm and they fell to the ground, the tremor continued for a few minutes then all of a sudden the ground erupted several metres from their current position and a giant creature crawled out of the earth, its massive body snapped trees in half and the earth was upturned with every step it took, the creature looked like a centipede but was a million times larger as its length reached almost a hundred metres and a height of about twelve metres, its spiky legs stabbed into the earth as it skittered about.

“Did I just speak a monster into existence?” Elliot said in a daze as they stared at the monster

“Run!!!” they both screamed as they snapped back to reality and at this same moment the centipede noticed them and it instantly took off in pursuit. Elliot held Amelia’s hand as he ran as fast as his feet and lungs would allow, twisting and turning between trees trying to use the environment to his advantage but that barely did anything to slow down the colossus monster that was hot on their tails.

“Let’s split up.” Elliot suddenly said as they ran

“Are you crazy?” Amelia exclaimed

“Don’t worry, I’ll distract it while you use the opportunity to take it down with your arrows.” Elliot explained but Amelia shook her head in denial

“That won’t do, you’ll be in too much danger.” She retorted

“We’re already in grave danger as it is, this is our best option.” Elliot said in frustration, Amelia thought for a few moments before agreeing with a sigh, they let go off each other’s hands and suddenly ran in opposite directions leaving the monster temporarily at loss.

“Hey worm-head, come catch me if you can.” Elliot shouted while waving his spear, the monster didn’t understand his words but it understood his taunting and took off after Elliot who already resumed running, Amelia took this chance and began firing arrows, like streaks of light the arrows the arrows flew but the moment they touched its exoskeleton there was the sound of colliding metals before the arrows snapped in half and Amelia cursed under her breath, she nocked and fired again, this time she aimed for the tiny gaps that existed between each segment but no matter how many arrows she fired it made almost no difference and at this moment despair creped upon her as she realized that this monster was beyond what she was capable of killing and she began to regret a lot of things.
