Genesis 2

Elliot kept running but at the same time he tried to keep track of Amelia with the corner of his eyes, when he saw her lower her bow with a downcast gaze he surmised that her arrows were useless and he took a long sharp breath.

“Amelia run, escape back to the village.” He shouted but that slight distraction cost him everything else as the monster caught up with him and with a swipe of its claws it grabbed him, being a man who won’t resign to fate easily, Elliot roared as he hurled his spear with every ounce of strength left in him, the spear surged forward gracefully, the centipede wanted to dodge but it was too late as the spear lodged itself into one of its beady eyes causing a black fluid to gush out like a fountain, the monster roared in agony causing it to clap its pincer tightly and trash around violently.

Amelia felt her knees go weak as she saw what was going on and was unable to do anything about it, tears streamed down her face freely when suddenly an idea popped into her mind.

“Lord Lariempi, please show mercy and help us kill this monster, save me and my husband.” She began to pray to the god that bestowed her powers upon her, she prayed for about half a minute kowtowing and crying when suddenly there was the loud rumbling of thunder and a bright flash of light and the next moment there was absolute silence, a few seconds later the aroma of roasted flesh wafted into her nostrils and it was at that moment she snapped into reality as she realized lightning just struck the monster killing it instantly, she hurriedly said a few thanks and praise to the god before dashing towards her husband who was already at death’s door.

“Elliot, Elliot please wake up.” Amelia cried as streams of tears washed down her cheeks, she raised his head up a bit and slapped his face lightly but there was no response from him, she quickly made another prayer to the gods promising all sort of offering and sacrifices just to save the life of her lover but there was no response, she could only watch as his breathing grew lighter and lighter as he walked farther into the embrace of death, in a moment of desperation Amelia planted her lips onto his, pouring out all her emotions into that final kiss just before he gave up the ghost and finally Elliot stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating causing Amelia to weep more bitterly, she hated herself for being stubborn and overconfident, she regretted not having listened when he suggested that they return home, memories of how they met flashed through her mind and all the moments they spent together.

“Elliot please don’t leave me.” She cried out loud as she held his hand tightly and wept.

“He might have had his own flaws like everyone but he was a good person, I’m sure the judge of the dead will treat him well.” A soft voice spoke behind Amelia but she was too grief-stricken to even look back

“You let him die. Why?” Amelia asked without turning as she already knew who was speaking

“There’re many restrictions we gods face and tampering directly with the life and death of others is one of them.” Lariempi replied softly

“But I can make it up to you.” He added after a moment of silence

“How?” Amelia asked as she finally turned around to take a look at the god who took up the form of a dashing young man

“I can help you evolve and become stronger so you can have you revenge.” He replied

“Have my revenge? But the monster is already dead.” Amelia exclaimed

“This mystic beast is not the first to slip into the mortal world and it won’t be the last, your husband is just one of several that has died and will die by their claws.” Lariempi said emotionlessly

“Lord please teach me how to kill them, even with my powers I could only watch…” Amelia said before breaking into tears again and Lariempi smiled slightly

“You couldn’t kill them because your weapon was too inferior.” He said, he then raised his index finger and a drop of golden god-blood dropped from his finger and landed on the ground

“Three days from now a metal vein will appear at this spot, weapons forged from it will be capable of killing them.” He added with a smile, he then pointed the finger at Amelia and another drop of god-blood flew from it and landed on her forehead before assimilating into her body and then her soul. Amelia felt a rush of power she has never felt before coursing through her body.

“I hereby proclaim Amelia Snow as the Alpha and first member of the Hunter Race, does anyone stand against this?” Lariempi declared to the heavens with a voice louder than thunder, a few seconds passed and then lightning flashed and thunder rumbled violently, at this very instant Amelia felt something change within her but she couldn’t point at exactly what changed.

“Amelia, you’re no longer a human but a new race to be known as Hunter, there are several hunters out there but you are a true Hunter acknowledged by the gods, in a few months you’ll have your own children and they will carry on your bloodline.” Lariempi said with his ever present smile

“What!!!” Amelia suddenly exclaimed as she heard the last sentence and her hands subconsciously rubbed her stomach

“You carry a set of triplets within you young woman.” He said and Amelia smiled bitterly

“This entire forest will be your home and hidden from the rest of the world. When your offspring become seven years of age bring them to my temple to receive my blessings.” Lariempi added before fading away like he never appeared.

And with that Amelia became the first Hunter while Lariempi was thereafter known as the Hunter god, up till this very day several Hunters go about killing monsters and supernatural creatures, protecting Human kind from within the shadows.
