We bragged about the sex, initially, I almost lost hope and decided it was a boy as we were viewing the abdomen but then moving down to the genitals we saw a small opening, it wasn't anything long that looked like a penis, it was then a wide grin formed on my face,

"You see I told you it's a girl." Excitement filled the room like we were on a merry. It wouldn't have bothered any of us, as Lola said children are gifts from God and it doesn't matter the gender; boy or girl.

"The mother already knows the gender so why waste the ultrasound?" She sounded defeated although she was happy, she had agreed with Ramanov because she fancies him if not under normal circumstances she prefers a girl. A girl; would arrange her hair with beads and decorate her room in all pink like the universe.

Even though I was about to become a single mum, Jade was busy branching into every doll shop and supermarket getting all the attention she could seek, while I sat on the bench along the walkway with my heavy
