Chapter three

The sparks of exhilaration in her eyes as I looked at her defeatedly irks me. I didn't care about mate bonds and truth wasn't strong like Claire, but Andrea led me on and it hurt my wolf severely that I was crackling in pain.

"She was his ex." I wished he had never found me, I was going to wear my heart on a sleeve for him and his Luna, I couldn't respect him out of duty anymore.

"Ex? As in ex-girlfriend?" I asked, eyes plunging from the cage, it was all coming together, just last night she was friendly and helpful but this morning was quick of her real self,

"They were together, she rejected her mate too, I think they suit themselves."

"That's an outlaw, how do you people survive here, rejecting each other's mate?" I asked, and she let out a light shrug. The alchemist had told me that a wolf will die if they reject their mates. I wanted to ask more, but Fiona seems to only know little, at least about their tribe. She knew more than I did.

"Why did you follow him?" She asked, I borrowed my brow,

"I didn't. He abducted me." As if Feeling some satisfaction in what I said, had I followed him I would have cut off my skin and fed it to cannibals.

She let out a smirk, "that's very bad."

"Yeah, I wish you could change everything."

She patted my shoulder, and I felt at home with her, I only wished she wouldn't change over time. And as for Andrea, I never wished to cross paths with him again, but my wolf still yearns for him, stupid mate bond I yelled at her.

"Hey let's go get some drinks." She said to me turning around,

I met Andrea and my wolf cried out to talk him out, but I didn't want to, I was happy with his decisions somehow, Andreas emerald couldn't stop tearing my dress up and I couldn't avert his gaze either, I thought to myself true mate bond, Claire walks towards him and tugged her arms into his.

"Honey tonight is going to be the best night, let's go celebrate, and binge our engagement out." Andrea seem reluctant and I ignored his pleading emerald eyes, and meandered behind Fiona,

"You're gonna get used to seeing them often, especially when your mate is an Alpha."

Her words struck me and I couldn't deny the fact that she meant the truth, but it daggered me deeply.

Lucia, a voice called from the dark and I couldn't hear anything. I followed the constant echoing voice in my head and sniffed as I entered a small house decorated in voodoo beads and what looked like ancient wolves.

"How did you do that?" I asked the woman that was sitting opposite a table sipping a warm cup of coffee, gesturing for me to take a seat and join her.

"It keeps one wolf agile, that cup is for you." I squirmed and wanted to reject her when her scary gaze forced me to consume it, and a smirk formed on her lips.

Did she use mind control on me?

"You're human."

"I'm not, I'm a wolf."

"Regardless you're weak and lame like them, you grow amongst them."

Her words cut through me.

"Am I going to die?" I asked as much as I wanted to die. I wanted to live so badly.

She shrugged, ``wolf bond doesn't limit, you can always reject your mate, and who knows to be mated to a better person."

My eyes brimming with enlightenment, why didn't she reject him, she should have left that coward I mumbled to my wolf.

Didn't you grow among your pack? This is a small thing every teenager infers."

"No, I didn't, I grew up among humans and have only learnt about my kind in fictional characters."

"Oh my God, your parents didn't have to ruin you like this," she said pathetically to me.

My dad did of course ruin me, if only death would have been kind enough, I would have grown among my kind, but my dad had retired from the pack and hence settled in the downtown.

"That's the reason because I'm weak-" a scoff slipped through my jaws.

"He's an Alpha and needs-"

"Yeah a strong partner, that is not enough reason for him to reject his mate and a mate outside the pack will divide the pack right." I was hurt emotionally, I had no wolf, that's the more reason if they find out, and she has found out, the priestess knows my wolf was weak, I was an outcast, treated anyhow and humiliated, it doesn't matter where I run to, they're all the same. Wolves or humans.

Fiona had told me about the rebellion that's slithering against the new Alpha and how he needs to appear strong, I wanted to be no part of this. A different world waits for me out there, I clutched the mug in my hand so tightly.

"Drink down, before it gets cold." She mumbled, and I did but only obeyed her. I felt pity for my mate, and my wolf unduly.

The priestess nudged her nose high and scented the air.

"He is here," she mumbled, grabbing the mug and sinking it inside the dustbin, arraying herself.

"Go girl," she pursued me before I could say a word. Who is here and how did she know, maybe because she's old and can easily tell apart various scents. After the traumatic day I've had I couldn't see what awaits me in the packhouse, living under the same roof with the woman my mate chooses over me.

I turned and my gaze met those of 1.7m height six men matching towards the tent, and I couldn't look more as someone grabbed me into their chest dragging me from the hallway.

I wanted to mumble but he hissed that I stayed silent, I recognised his scent, vanilla and lily and some ginger, very masculine and sank into his chest. Mate, I muttered to my wolf. He was fast, flexible and frighteningly dominating.
