Chapter Nine

Cline

The cold iron hits my wrists and a jolt of pain radiates up each of my arms. I grit my teeth together so I don’t make a noise. I won’t give the Lycan King the satisfaction. The clink of the chains tinkle in my ears as my wrists are wrenched sharply away from my body. My arms are slowly winched higher and higher in time to the squeak of the handle being turned. The chains drag along the ground to the two huge, solid posts that are situated in the very middle of the stage. My shirt rips from a nail head that protrudes from the wooden floor. The ringing in my head makes it hard to concentrate on what is happening around me. I can sense the other Alpha’s holding their breath. None of them were brave enough to take a stand like I did, and now I know why. I don’t feel brave at all, instead I am the shell of the man I was this morning. I am destroyed.
