A murmur ripples through the filled rows of seats that fill the rest of the room. Selene is in a seat in the middle of the crowd. Her dad and that Beta of theirs sit eight side of her. No Cronin though. Delta Shadow pushes me forwards and I growl at him. ‘Give me a reason to cut you down where you stand.’ His voice booms in my head. I turn away from him and draw myself up to my fullest height and walk with as much confidence as I can to the podium. Once on the stand I somehow find my voice. ‘Where are Lord Anderson and Elder White? They should be here for such a hearing.’ The king shakes his head but it is with a smile on his lips and the Elders sat at the long table look at one another. ‘They have been relieved of their duties.
