‘She hung up!’ Athena looks at me and shrugs. ‘She has been different since seeing Dameon, Ode. More like her old self. I’m glad to have her back. Work has been a lot easier for sure. No more hesitation and worrying about her soul. I hope I never fall in love if that’s what it does to you.’ I watch her hack through her steak and the blood oozes on to the plate. ‘That’s disgusting.’ I point to the mess its made all over her fries and she laughs. ‘It’s not right eating at this time of day, but I can’t sleep when I’m starving.’ I shake my head and look at the phone screen. She is right. Work has been a lot easier since she got over that douche bag. ‘At least chew that with your mouth shut. It’s like watching a murderous washing machine going around and around. It’s making me feel sick.’ Athena laughs and drops her fork on to the plate. ‘Really Ode. I have watched you fillet a man while he is alive but me eating a rare steak is going to turn your stomach.’
