Elena jumped out of her bed as her alarm jolted her awake. She rubbed her eyes and saw that it was already daylight and quickly rush to the bathroom.
She had gone to her room as soon as she spoke with her mom last night and quickly checked her texts, refreshing her messages to see if she received any text from Gaby or Matthew or Silver but she didn't see one.
She plans to have a long talk with Silver once she gets to school to know why she wasn't called, not even once, to let her know that she won't be able to make it.
"Breakfast is ready, Elena, come downstairs once you're done," Her mom yelled from the kitchen.
She quickly rushed out of the bathroom and hurriedly dressed up, grabbing her bag and going out of her room.
"Good morning Mom, "She said, walking past her mom and stretching her hands to grab a glass of water.
"Morning love, how are you doing?" Clara asked, staring at her carefully.
"I'm fine, what's with the look?" S
They got to the school and Elena got out of the car, scanning her eyes around the parking lot for Matthew's car and sinking her face when she couldn't find it."What's up? Looking for something?" Craig asked, looking at her."Uh? Nothing. Just wondering why the school's parking lot suddenly seem empty," She said quietly and closes the passenger door."Yeah ,it seems somewhat empty. By the way, have you heard from Matthew? I haven't seen him in a while and I'm guessing you probably keep in touch with him since you're close friends," He said, staring straight a her."I haven't heard from him. It's actually what I just thought of this morning," Elena said, avoiding his eyes. She didn't want to let him know that she had texted Matthew and called him but hasn't been getting any reply."I wonder what he's up to. He missed some volleyball practice and might miss their big game coming up soon. I hope he gets over what is wrong with him. I can't have
"There's nothing I can do about that, Elena. I have done what I can for you. A student is not allowed to leave the school while the school activities is going on. It's wrong and it'll be impartial of me to let you go when I refuse to let others," He said, after some time.He was right when he told Clara that her daughter and Matthew had something between them but were wrong in thinking they were dating.Matthew wouldn't leave without saying goodbye if they were dating, that's unless she did something to hurt him.Judging by the way she behaved, she probably did someone to hurt him. That's probably why she was trying to go and apologize to him."Please," Elena said, getting up from the seat and falling to her knees."Get up, get up right now. It hasn't gotten to that. Why do you really want to meet with him? It's obvious he doesn't want to see you. If he did he would have told you before leaving.""I just need to see him this last time. I promise I would do anything you say after this.
"No, he's not sick, he's just transferring to another school. I mean he has transferred already," Silver answered her, sounding anxious.Miss Thompson was always nosey but she hadn't ever experienced her nosiness since she got into the school and it's really annoying that she has to experience it at a time like this."Really? Why? I mean this school is good enough for him. Wasn't he in the volleyball team that won not quite long ago? Why would he want to transfer schools?" She asked, looking at Silver, oblivious to the way Elena stared at her."Well, that's exactly what we are trying to find out by going to meet up with him. When we get him, we'll make sure to tell him that you asked," Silver answered through clenched teeth."Now hold on, young lady. You will not speak to me like that, okay? I have every right to ask you these questions because I'm your teacher. If I don't ask these questions and something happens to you, won't I be blamed?" She asked, peering at Silver through her gl
"Oh no! Why is there traffic?" Elena sighed, looking outside the window. They were in the car, on their way to the airport, and were running out of time. "I have no idea. I mean, it's not even early, no one has to rush you to go to their jobs so why is there traffic?" Gaby said also, tapping her hands against her forehead. "This is the road leading to the airport. There's usually traffic around here and it's always on days like this. I've heard my mom say something like this, " Silver said quietly. They all sighed and leaned their heads on the back of their seats. They had struggled to leave the school only to end up getting stuck in traffic. "Can't believe what Sarah said. What? I am a pick-me, girl? She must have romanticized her brain in a way that she thinks I'm the one, not her," Silver said, fuming as she remembered what silver said to her earlier. "Maybe she was talking herself. Isn't she the pick-me, girl? Follows Matthew everywhere he goes and forces him to hang out wit
"You guys kisses recently?! When he surprised you by taking you to that concert? Gosh, Elena! At this rate, o don't think you deserve to see him again. You really shattered his heart to pieces and you did it on purpose!""I was only trying to protect our friendship. I thought if I acknowledged that I knew he was in love with me, we might end up separating because of one thing or the other.""Protect what friendship? The one you ruined by trying to protect? He took his time to plan a surprise for you knowing fully well how much you love those artists, something that your boyfriend couldn't do for you.""Now I understand why you were both having arguments back then. If I was the one I would have gotten mad at you and wouldn't even speak to you again, honestly," Gaby said, shaking her head."I know right? That was so heartless of you. I wish we could just.." Silver said, interrupted by the sounds of horn from the car behind them."Let's go. We'll resolve this matter on the way. Don't thi
Matthew stared at her in shock, she was the last person he expected to see. Not after what she had done to him. He walked closer to her then halted, trying to withstand the urge of trailing his fingers down her smooth, plump cheeks. "Matthew, I…." She said but got choked on her words. She tried making out sounds but they only came out as a wheeze. Her nerves were caving in on her as she was unsure of the next step to take. "I'm surprised to see you here, Elena. Silver told you right?" Matthew asked calmly, then stared at her. "Yea, she did.. I can see that you're ready to leave." She said. "You look beautiful," He complimented her on purpose, trying to avoid talking about the reason she was there. "Thank… Thank you," She stuttered and fiddled with her fingers. She was avoiding his gaze because of reasons best known to her. When he first saw her, he thought she would grab him for a hug and ask him not to go anywhere, that she loved him. But none of that happened, rather she stoo
When he saw that she wouldn't say anything else, he clutched tightly to his black leather bag and said,"I have to go now. I need to clear my head and think of the next thing to do. Take care of yourself," He patted her on the shoulder and walked away from her briskly towards the plane. He didn't bother looking back or he would be tempted to run back to her and pull her to himself. He was the last person to get on the plane, and as soon as he got in, the door closed.*********Elena sat on the chair at the visiting area and gripped the bottle of chilled orange juice she had bought tightly. She had drunk it in a rush thinking it would numb the pain she felt within but I didn't.She watched the plane fly into the air and realized that she was the biggest fool ever for letting him go. She knew that she was able to stop him from studying elsewhere but pride didn't allow her to apologize. She should have told him that she loved him too and not Craig but the words were stuck in her throat.
Matthew peered down into the cloud as the plane progressed higher. He sighed deeply and turned his face back to the aisle. He made the right choice. Elena was never going to choose him. She was never going to admit that she was also in love with him.She was, wasn't she? Otherwise, why would she run into the terminal just to meet up with him and say goodbye? She had teared up, or was he just imagining it?He sighed again and the person next to him turned to look at him."Are you alright?" She said.He turned to look at the person who spoke and smiled as soon as he saw the person."Yeah, I am. Just tired," He said, still smiling. She looked a lot like Elena. The Elena he knew when they were still young. The younger version of Elena."Oh, I see," the girl said and stared at him strangely. He gave an awkward smile and turned his face away quickly, feeling embarrassed. He didn't want the girl to think that he was a weirdo or one of those Playboy's who smile immediately they see a pretty g
