The drive was a silent one. It is only after I park outside their house that Kate finally speaks up

“I know I have no excuse but I don’t regret my actions. I only regret the fact that I directed that energy to an innocent person. Victoria has been the only friend I’ve had since growing up and she was the last person I expected to do this. She’s uptight and rude but murder? That came as a blow to me. I’m very sorry Emily and I don’t expect you to forgive me but I hope you eventually find it in your heart.”

As I watch her speak, my heart bleeds and hurts for her. I wanted to stay mad but Looking at how miserable she felt, I put myself in her shoes and pushed it aside. Kate was raised a princess and experiencing such a thing must have driven her crazy. I reach out and squeeze her hand. “It’s okay. We’re good.” I smile.

“Please don’t do that, it will only make me feel worse.” Kate looks down in shame.

I reach out to her and lift her chin with my forefinger. "It's okay, Kate,
