When I awoke in the bedroom, I knew that Darlington didn't sleep in this room with me. I didn't know what was wrong with him that he couldn't tell his mother that he had accepted me as his wife.

I had been anticipating that he may come to me last night to consummate our marriage as he said, but I didn't see him. Darlington didn't show up, and when he did, he took some of his things and left the bedroom.
