Chapter 67

After Darlington left home, I went to have my bath and pondered on his request for me not to encounter his mother. I stepped out of the bathroom and wore my casual blue top and brown skirt. I went to the sitting room and saw a maid was already there, cleaning it up.

"Good morning, ma." The maid greeted me, and I replied to her, "Morning." I walked away to sit on the couch, observing the maid arranging the cushions properly on the remaining couch. She cleared her cleaning equipment, leaving the sitting room. As there was power supply, I embarked on switching on the television.

It was morning, so I decided to keep myself company by watching a movie. However, my fun was interrupted when Mrs. Ifeoma arrived. She knocked on the sitting room door and entered in her brown long gown.

"Good morning, ma," I greeted her. Mrs. Ifeoma looked at me angrily. She inquired, "Why are you just sitting down there? Stand up and assist the maids in doing something meaningful and useful."
