Chapter 18 Night Work

John drove the car, worried about Susan's change in behavior, Judy and John decided to follow and check on her. They had just left the restaurant and paid the bill when Judy saw Susan getting into a luxury car. It was the chauffeur from Royal Estate, now exclusively assigned to pick up and drop off Susan.

"Hurry, Judy," John called as he drove up.

Judy opened the car door and got in: "Follow that black Mercedes ahead."

John pressed the accelerator and quickly followed: "That Mercedes is worth over half a million dollars. Susan really found a rich boyfriend. But why is she hiding him from us? Is she afraid we'll see him? Afraid we'll ask to borrow money?"

People who strike it rich often distance themselves from family and friends, fearing they'll be asked for loans.

"Who knows what she's thinking," muttered Judy. "Stay on it and don't lose them. Once we see this mysterious boyfriend, we'll know what's going on."
