Allison’s POV

“Are you done with the sales memo?” I asked Tom, as I sat down on the empty chair beside him. “If so, can you be a sweet dear and forward it to me?”

“Sure, Allie. I'm almost done, I just have to do one final review.” He responded.

“Alright, thanks Tom,” I nodded. “How's your girlfriend doing nowadays? It's been a while since you last spoke of her.”

Tom's expression instantly became crestfallen, causing me to tremendously regret ever asking him the question in the first place.

“We broke up,” He feigned a smile. “I proposed to her and she just looked at me and laughed and good me that I wasn't serious. Apparently, Lana was just fooling around with me while I took our relationship serious.”

“Oh, Tom,” I said, placing a hand in his shoulder. “I'm so sorry to hear that. A kind man like you deserves someone better. Someone that will never take your love for granted, a woman who would love you with all her heart.”
