Allison's POV

As I stepped into the elevator, my phone vibrated in my bag with an incoming call.

Fishing out my phone, a smile creased my lips when I saw Max displayed as the caller ID.

Answering the call, I placed it to my ear. “Hey.”

“Hi, petal. How are you doing? How's work?” He asked. “I hope you aren't missing me too much.”

“You wish,” I huffed, unable to conceal my grin. “You are still in Texas?”

“Yes, I'll soon be done with the conference. And after that, I'm boarding the fastest flight back home to you.” Max replied, and for some reason, my heart sank, instead of flutter.

Ignoring the feeling, I feigned eagerness. “Is that so? I will be expecting you then.”

“Should I take it that you've finally agreed to come visit me at my place?” Max asked.

I was about to respond when the elevator screeched to a halt and the doors slid open. I almost choked on air when Leo walked in, his musky masculine scent pervading my nostrils and rendering me powerless to his suave charm.
