Chapter 22

Cassandra sits in a dimly lit cell, her defiant attitude slowly giving way to a mixture of anger and despair. She hears footsteps approaching and looks up to see Sophia standing outside her cell.

Cassandra said coldly What do you want, Mother? Come to gloat?

Sophia sighing deeply Cassandra, I didn't come to gloat. I came to understand. Why did you go down this path? Why couldn't you see the destruction you were causing?

Cassandra cried bitterly You wouldn't understand. You've always been content with mediocrity. I wanted more—for both of us.

Sophia said softly More at what cost? Look around you, Cassandra. You've torn this pack apart. You've lost everything, including yourself.

Cassandra in a defensive mood said I did it for power, for respect. I wanted to make us stronger.

Sophia nodded shaking her head and said You confuse strength with tyranny. Real power comes from unity, trust, and love. Not from fear and manipulation.

Cassandra said angrily and was surprised at her mother change
