Zara's POV

I felt an unexpected solace in the devil's arms. It was unlikely of him to hold me like this. Was I really wrong in assuming that Xander was a living devil? His warmth not just relieved me but also made me feel guilty about how I kept on despising my husband?

While my head was pressed against his chest, my gaze was at the doors of the operating room.

After one long hour, the doors opened and I immediately pulled myself away. Eagerly, I rushed toward the doctor, Xander coming behind me.

I asked, “Doctor, did everything go well? My mom is alright, right?”

The doctor nodded before he said calmly, “Yes, the operation went successful, and your mom is out of your danger.”

This brought tears of joy to my eyes. I asked him, elated, “Can I get to see my mother?”

The doctor shook his head and clarified, “Mrs. Creswell needs a very good rest. She will have to stay for a week in the ICU.”
