“I knew it was you!” He said while looking into my frightened eyes.

With all of my strength, I removed his hands from my mouth and looked at him with wide eyes.

“River?” I asked. “What are you doing here? And why the hell were you following me?”

He turned to me, flabbergasted. “What am I doing here? I should be asking that question to you! Mom and dad just got back in the village, and they’re going nuts trying to find where you are! I saw you walking in the mall and was hesitant at first, but from the way you ran, I knew that it was you.”

I sighed and crossed my arms. “Can you just pretend that you didn’t see me? I have a good reason for why I ran away from home, and I would appreciate it if you just let me go. This is probably going to be the last time that you’re going to see me anyway, so please don’t tell mom and dad.”
