Hera
I hate River. I can’t believe he called me out here just to leave me alone afterward! It would have been better if I was by myself, but I have Arlo by my side, annoying the shit out of me. I wasn’t even supposed to hang out with River today. It was my day off, and I was planning on sleeping and doing nothing all day.
However, when he said that he was going to the carnival, I was tempted to go. Believe it or not, I’ve actually never been to a carnival before. I never liked going out of the house since the people in the village would treat me like a freak, so I stayed at home at every opportunity. I was excited to eat the different carnival foods and ride the exciting rides.
However, when I smelled Alpha Arlo’s scent behind me, I wanted to sprint in the other direction and just stay in my cottage.
“Come on. Let’s just ride this one, hmm? What’s the use of going to the carnival if we’re just going to walk
Hera“Rogues.”We all froze up in our seats the moment he said that word.“Rogues are still real? I thought that the Werewolf Committee had wiped out all rogues about twenty years ago,” River said, shocked.Arlo nodded his head. “That’s what I thought. But, there has been an emergence of rogues ever since the annihilation of the Silver Raven pack. I heard that there is also a rise in deviant organizations that want to take the most powerful packs down.” He sighed, “If this goes on, then I’m afraid that history might repeat itself.”“What do you mean?” I asked, confused.“Have you never heard about it? The legendary war between the Blood Shadow pack and the Coun—”“Arlo,” Devyn interrupted his statement. “As much as I would love to hear about our pack’s history, I’m afraid that we’re literally being chased by ro
Hera“I think it’s a great idea,” River said, almost jumping up in excitement.I, on the other hand, was on a completely different spectrum. I was concerned with the fact that I had to live with the people that I vowed to never get along with. “No,” I firmly said.River frowned. “No? Hera! Do you realize what just happened to us a couple of moments ago? Rogues chased us down, and there is a huge possibility that this won’t be the last time! Do you think it’ll be safe for us to go home when we both live alone?”Arlo’s eyes narrowed. “You live alone?”I looked away.“I thought you both lived together. This isn’t good. I’ve made up my mind. You’re staying here, and that’s final,” he commanded.“I can take care of myself,” I argued. “You saw what I did out there. I can protect myself just fine. If you could, then j
ArloI woke up, expecting to see someone by my side, but to no avail. I just had one of the best sleep that I've had for a while now, and I was looking forward to seeing Hera when I opened my eyes.Based on yesterday’s events, I thought that we had built a new connection, but I have to reconsider that thought now. I guess some things really need more time to change.Although I didn’t want to get up, I forced myself to go to the bathroom and get ready for the day. I have to brief the pack leaders and warriors about the recent rogue sightings near our area.I walked towards the training grounds and saw them sparring against each other. The moment they felt my presence, they halted their movements and arranged themselves in an orderly manner.“Greetings, Alpha,” they said in unison while bowing in respect. My eyes searched the area for my Beta, Anderson, and saw him walking through the sea of warriors. We greeted each ot
HeraI went up the stairs but did not hear Arlo’s steps behind me. Is he having a hard time carrying my luggage?“Aren’t you coming?” I shouted from the middle of the stairs.“Ah—yeah, I’m coming up,” he said and followed after me. For some reason, his voice sounded a bit strange, but I just brushed it off since he’s always strange.I opened his room and placed my things down on the ground. Arlo quickly followed and helped me arrange my things. I sat down on his bed from exhaustion and watched as he looked at me from the doorframe.“What?” I asked, conscious of his gaze.He cleared his throat and shook his head. “Nothing. Nothing. I’m just sorry that I won’t be able to accompany you around the packhouse since I have some paperwork to do. You wouldn’t mind, would you?”I vigorously shook my head. “There’s no problem at all. I&rsq
HeraI unconsciously moved away from her and straightened my back. My senses were heightened as I looked at the person who murdered my mother. Although I didn’t want to show her any respect, she is still the former Luna of the Blood Shadow pack, so I bowed my head.“Greetings, Luna,” I said in a strained voice.I was startled when she held onto my shoulders and guided me to stand straight.“No need for those formalities. I’m not the Luna of the pack anymore. Just think of me as a normal pack member in this house,” she smiled, her eyes brightening as she spoke. She is just as the books painted her to be. She is incredibly beautiful and dazzling, but I know better than to be deceived by her smile.“I heard the commotion from my room, so I decided to come down. Some kids are treating Reinas as an outcast just because her father left their family not too long ago. So, I’ve been trying my best to avoid any
ArloI looked at the folded paper on my desk while taking a sip from my coffee. I was actually planning on showing Hera around the packhouse, but I felt like I had to uncover the secrets of this piece of paper as fast as possible. The paper was folded, only showing its uppermost portion. There was more writing in the middle of the paper, but I didn’t bother opening it yet. The only words that were showing were “The Plan” in big and bold letters.I tapped my fingernails on the table, eager yet anxious to unfold the piece of paper. For some reason, I felt like I was about to discover the reason for Hera’s vexation towards me. With trembling fingers, I held onto the corner of the paper, about to flip it open. However, before I could do so, the door suddenly opened, making me jolt in my seat. I’m usually not this easily surprised, but I’m already on edge thinking about the contents of the paper. As a result, I knocked
HeraIt was the next day, and I was with Devyn and River watching some random television show in their living room. Let me correct that. I’M watching a weird TV show while the other two are busy flirting with each other.By how near they were seated with each other, they felt like only one person. I grimaced in disgust as I heard River giggling while Devyn told him an adventitious story. Giggling! River is fucking giggling!Just in time, Arlo and Uncle Dalton went into the room, carrying a bunch of tools that looked like they were for… hunting?Devyn and River finally separated and sat farther away from each other. Devyn cleared his throat and straightened out his clothes. “Where are you going?”“Didn’t you get the announcement? We’re going hunting later at night.” Arlo responded while counting all of the equipment.“Hunting? I thought that the announcement was for the end of the month?
Hera“Good luck on the hunt,” I said, helping Arlo in wearing his backpack. I patted his back to signify that I was done, so he turned around and flashed me a bright smile.“Why do I feel like you’re acting kinder than usual?” He asked.‘Cause this is going to be the last time that we’ll be seeing each other, I wanted to respond. However, I just scoffed and rolled my eyes.“What do you mean? I’m always kind to you,” I retorted. He was about to respond, but a strong aura suddenly entered the room. I turned to the figure and froze. Is this the infamous Kairo Ford? His face was stern, and I felt cold just looking at his stance. Everything about him, from his gaze to his strides, screams “power.”“Dad,” Arlo said and walked towards his father.Kairo’s face turned brighter when he saw his son. All of the coldness in his body left, and it was re
