Chapter 2

“Good morning, Miss" my driver greeted me as I approached the white car.

"Good morning, Idris" I curtseyed, sliding in. He got into the driver's seat and drove off.

I brought out my phone to scroll through social media before getting to school. Everywhere was buzzing about his coming to the town. A certain media house even claimed that he came to Paia to complete his high school education.

I rolled my eyes and closed my phone. In less than 10 minutes, we arrived at Euphoren High School.

Idris highlighted from the car to open it for me. I beamed “Thanks, Idris” I said

“Bye, Miss” He smiled with a wave. I waved back, and proceeded to my classroom.

As I walked along the premises, the whole school kept buzzing with the news of Damian’s return. Students were scattered across in pairs and groups, talking about Damian while staring at his pictures on their phones.

“He is so cute,”

“I heard that he’ll be schooling in our school,”

“Oh, gosh! If that ever happens, I will scream my lungs out. Just imagine attending classes with the legendary Damian Delance!” some girls giggled

I almost groaned. Breathing deeply, I took the stairs and entered my classroom.

Shockingly, every student in the room was also talking about DAMIAN.

I guess I’ll be stuck with the nuisance today. Suddenly I felt a tight bear hug- Stephanie?

“Stephanie??! You're here!” I squealed, hugging my sister. We kissed each other’s cheeks. I had missed her so much.

“You left me to have a sleepover with your friends-” I accused with crossed arms

“Well, I invited you and you refused for the umpteenth time. You would rather bury your head in books that come have fun,” she raised her eyebrows, mimicking my folded arms. We are identical.

“Fine, I didn't think you were going to come,” I finally broke the stare, hugging her tightly.

“How could I miss Damian’s entry into school?” she smirked

“No way,” I shook my head. She is so obsessed with this guy

“Yes way, can you believe it!?” She giggled excitedly as her friends; Tasha and Kelvin came to give her high-five. I mentally rolled my eyes- these fellows are so dramatic.

“Excuse me,” I said, but she was already engrossed in whatever they were saying to see me slide away. My heart dipped in pain. Daddy doesn't have time for me. Stephanie is barely at home as well. She values her friends over me…

"Hello girlfriend" Zara, my seatmate giggled as I approached her.

“Hi,” I said with a forced smile

“Let me guess, you are annoyed about the ceaseless talks about this Damian guy,” She said, pouting her pink lips.

"Indeed. You know me so well, Zara” I replied as she smiled

"Well, why aren't you glad that Damian is back? I mean, you're gonna be in the same state, community and class with the legendary Damian Delance" she said ecstatically.

"Like its gonna add anything to my life" I replied sarcastically

"You're so funny, Sarah. You act like you don't like him, but deep down, you want him as much as we do," she said with a teasing look.

"Hey! I already have a boyfriend, I won’t be fanning over a anybody like you girls,” I bragged, flipping my hair.

We burst into laughter.

"That cold boyfriend of yours? You're not in love with him, Sarah. You're simply in love with love" she teased further

"Stop speaking gibberish, okay? I love Coleman with my whole heart" I told her and she rolled her eyes with a 'Whatever’ look

"While you gush on Coleman, I am anticipating Damian’s arrival!” she squeaked and I pressed my lips together.

"As you wish!” I looked away

"Oh! Sarah; he is so dreamy! I wish he would enter this moment. Why is he taking so much time?”

Just then we heard a scream and stamping of feet, the school went into an uproar. Mean-looking hefty protocols in black suits ushered someone into our classroom.

"Oh my goodness! Damian is really here!”

“Oh my gosh! Is that really Damian, the winner of the Nobel prize for peace 3038?”

“He looks so yummy!” A hushed buzz rippled from my classmates

Phones emerged, as they sought online validation for their suspicions.

"It's really him! Wow! He looks even better in person," exclaimed my classmates with admiration.

The entire class erupted into excitement; girls began devising plans to capture Damian Delance’s attention.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance. He is just a human being! Nothing so special.

Quiet class!!!" The Head Mistress, Mrs Vanessa roared as she walked into the class.

"Will you all keep quiet!" She thundered, trying to get their attention

My mates were unperturbed, they kept talking as ladies started adjusting their uniforms; more buttons came undone as different varieties of cleavage were on display.

"If you all don't keep quiet, I will ban the bringing of phones and laptops to school!" She threatened

Only then did the whole class quieten.

"Good!" She smiled

“Everyone meet Damian Delance, your new classmate,” Mrs Vanessa introduced. The class erupted in another uproar.

“Silence, please!” A frustrated Mrs Vanessa yelled “He will be starting with you guys as from today” she said leaving

"Okay,” we answered

All these while, Damian was looking uninterested and bored. When it was time for him to sit, he went to the back of the class.

I turned to look. My eyes met with sapphire eyes. I knew I had seen them somewhere.

Right there and then, I felt uneasy..

"Mehn! This guy is not human, he is a Demi-god!" The whole class ogled at him to his seat.

The class went crazy after the HeadMistress left our class. The joy of having Damian Delance, a celebrity in our school, was getting to their head.

"Where are you going?" Zara asked when she saw me standing up

"I need to use the restroom," I replied quickly

"Okay,” Zara nodded. I hurried out.

I frantically pushed the restroom door open, staring at my reflection in the mirror “Breathe in, breathe out, he isn’t the one.” I exhaled gently, trembling softly
