The sound of my phone ringing woke me up from my sleep, even before my alarm. It was annoying. I didn't answer it initially and let it ring, but it started ringing again.
Frustrated, I woke up and grabbed the phone from the bed's headboard. Still half-asleep, I looked at the caller ID and saw it was Stephanie .
I was puzzled – why was she calling so early? Isn’t she having a sleepover with her friends? With a tired sigh, I sat up and answered the call.
"Sarah" She yelled out, and I involuntarily flinched. What in heaven’s name is wrong with her?
"Oh, my goodness! Wait, you’re still sleeping? Seriously?" She giggled. I ran my fingers through my hair, sighing deeply "What's up?
"You're missing out, Sarah. Damian is back! My childhood crush is back!!! returned! Turn on the television, Sarah. They are broadcasting his arrival at the airport!" Her excitement overflowed as she spoke, I couldn't help but scoff.
"Stephanie, did you seriously wake me up for this?" I questioned. "Well, obviously, Sarah. He is the love of my life and everyone is tuning in. Stop being so stiff and alone in that room of yours— Oh my! He looks so adorable. I can't wait to attend his concert tonight. The whole city will be there," she gushed. I rubbed my eyes and let out a sigh.
"You're very enthusiastic, Stephanie, " I remarked before ending the call.
Unbelievable! I know that she has a thing for Damian but waking me up this early is what I can’t fathom. If it wasn’t that she's my sister, I would have given her a piece of my mind. I do not like my sleep interrupted. It’s barely 6am. I grabbed the remote for the flat-screen TV in my room and switched it on. To my surprise, they were airing a live video of Damian’s return at the airport. Hilarious! What’s so special about him? Media houses will say that he won so many awards, and is an awardee of the Nobel prize for peace, hence his fame cuts across the continent. He is a global force. Remarkably, a specific day was designated in his honor – Dec 1st, his birthday. Each year on this date, a public holiday was observed solely to celebrate his name. It is said that people other than his family don’t get the chance to interact with him. Moreso, he is the heir to the Delance Conglomerate, despite having step-siblings.
His charisma is enchanting, his mere presence of him around women renders them speechless. Despite his young age, he had secured over ten awards, earning him a prominent standing in the nation as the symbol of pride. He is the sole musician to have brought much distinction and honor to his homeland.
For the past four years, he's resided in New York, but he recently came back to his hometown, sparking discussions throughout the entire city.
However, there's an unsettling aspect I've heard about him – he is a flirt. You might be wondering how I came to learn these details about him.
Well, it’s all thanks to Stephanie and his girly fans in school. But despite his captivating allure, I can't bring myself to swoon over him like other girls do.
The reason is simple – I am in an amazing relationship. Yassss! I rose from the bed, knowing that Stephanie’s call had effectively disrupted my sleep. Her call served as my alarm. Although Damian’s airport arrival was still being broadcasted, I chose to leave the room.
Descending the stairs, I entered the living room and saw my nanny, Linda tidying up. "Good morning, Sarah," she smiled as I stepped into the room. "Good morning, Linda. ''
I grinned back, making my way to the refrigerator in the dining hall, and took out a bottle of water, I gulped quickly. Seated on a chair, I turned to Linda. She noticed my silence and looked at me.
"Did Dad come home last night?" I asked
"Yes, he did. However, he left early this morning. He mentioned that something came up that needed his undivided attention,” Linda answered.
I heave a loud breath, here she goes again- giving excuses for Dad. I really need to outgrow being a Daddy’s girl. I should be like Stephanie, wild and nonchalant. I bet she wouldn't come to school today.
Let me introduce myself. I am Sarah Wright, 19 years old, and a twin child of my single father. I attend Euphoren High School; a noble school for all rich kids in the country and I am currently in my final year. I don't know who my mother is; my father has never spoken about her .
Sometimes I forget I even have a father. He is the 3rd richest man in the country and takes care of my Stephanie and I’s needs but he’s too busy for us. He arrives home late when we are already asleep, and leaves very early in the morning before we're even awake.
Occasionally, I barely see him once a week. Stephanie subtly drifted away from me, having her own clique in school and books became my company. After gulping water, Linda served me mashed tomatoes and beef. I ate to my full, before heading to my room to take a bath.
I changed into a towel, moved into the bathroom, settling into the jacuzzi. The warm, soapy water was thoroughly enjoyable. When I finished, I stepped out of the tub and returned to my room. The TV had stopped airing Damian’s arrival at the airport .
Then I heard a notification sound from my phone, I rushed to it only to realize that it was Coleman texted me. A smile crept onto my face..
The text says: Hello beautiful, I believe you had a wonderful night's rest. I can’t wait to see you today. Love you. Muah! I giggled hard before placing my phone on the bed. I walked to my wardrobe to retrieve my school uniform.
I put on a green shirt, high-waisted skirt paired with a white long-sleeved blazer. I wore my stockings and white boots.
Standing in front of the mirror, I brushed my blonde hair and let it cascade freely onto my shoulders. I applied a pink lipstick to my lips.
Wow! I couldn't help but admire my reflection in the mirror. I look breathtaking, not to be arrogant, it’s just that everyone constantly remarks on my unique beauty. But a feature of mine that drives people wild are my curves.
I grabbed my black designer school bag and strolled out of the room.
“Good morning, Miss" my driver greeted me as I approached the white car."Good morning, Idris" I curtseyed, sliding in. He got into the driver's seat and drove off.I brought out my phone to scroll through social media before getting to school. Everywhere was buzzing about his coming to the town. A certain media house even claimed that he came to Paia to complete his high school education. I rolled my eyes and closed my phone. In less than 10 minutes, we arrived at Euphoren High School. Idris highlighted from the car to open it for me. I beamed “Thanks, Idris” I said“Bye, Miss” He smiled with a wave. I waved back, and proceeded to my classroom. As I walked along the premises, the whole school kept buzzing with the news of Damian’s return. Students were scattered across in pairs and groups, talking about Damian while staring at his pictures on their phones.“He is so cute,”“I heard that he’ll be schooling in our school,” “Oh, gosh! If that ever happens, I will scream my lungs out.
I tried to avoid everyone after the class but Zara wouldn’t budge. Damian reminds me so much of him. The boy who stole my virginity.“Sarah, you should come!” Zara grinned mischievously.“Come to where?” I stared at her for the first time since we entered the school cafeteria. I was having fries and soda. It was so unlike me. I simply lost my appetite for food.“You didn’t hear a thing i said?” Zara frowned briefly“Huh? Sorry, my mind was somewhere else,” i murmured“Are you okay? You seem to have spaced out?” Zara said worriedly, bringing her hand to feel my forehead.“I am fine,” I said, removing her palms. What is wrong with me? My heart has been thumping heavily since my eyes met with his. It isn’t him, and I am not crushing on him. “What were you saying?”“I was telling you about the private Damian’s Welcome home party, only invited persons will be allowed to the party— oh, I wish my parents were in their clique, I wouldn’t miss it it!” Zara said sadly, munching on her hamburger.
"Gosh! I can't believe I am going to Damian’s house,” Stephanie bugged my ear continuously, she has been to her room and mine; over and over- and almost pulling the house down for the perfect dress to wear. She finally settled for a blue cocktail dress with a long V neck that showed her cleavage and bare back. She was blazing hot. She paired it with a shimmery white stiletto and bag. “Gorgeous” was the word to describe her.I thought had about what to wear, when Linda suggested that I wore the same thing- since we had almost everything but in different colors. I thought hard and long about it. I wore the red version of the dress. Linda helped me apply light makeup on my face. After a while, Dad returned from work to convey us to the Delance’ mansion. My heart rammed quickly on its own. Bam Bam Bam!We sat with Dad in the back seat as Eric drove us intothe Delance’s estate. Eric is Dad’s driver. Idris is mine, and Nathaniel is Stephanie’s.“Oh, my God! This is paradise!” Stephanie exc
I didn't sleep a wink last night. What did they mean by Damian and I getting married? Was it all a ploy to make us befriend each other?I remember how the remaining part of the meeting went. Damian left briskly. I almost did, but had to respect both fathers —even though I wanted nothing to be with them.“Are you kidding me now, Dad?! Her?” Damian shook his head and walked away. His dad chuckled rather at his retreating figure “He knows I wouldn't joke with something this delicate. Not to worry dear, he will do my bidding,”Do his bidding? It got me confused. What is going on?? I looked at my Dad for help but he kept smiling sheepishly.“Do take care of yourself, darling” Mr Delance smiled at me and leftWhat? What just happened?“Let me call your sister, we should get going” my Dad said, still grinning from ear to earI stopped him from moving “Dad! What is going on? What was that supposed to mean?!” I stamped my feet at him“Pumpkin,” Dad grinned, holding my shoulders tenderly “Mr Del
“No way,” I yelled angrily, “that is bullsh!t. Even if that happens in this 30th century of young teenagers getting married. I won't! I believe in love, and would marry for love!”Dad chuckled devilishly on the wheels as he loosen his neck collar with his left hand. He stamped his feet on the accelerator and drove madly, barely avoiding the cars on the road. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” a scream escaped my mouth. “Do you want to kill us, daddy?” I screamed louder“You think I just want to give my daughters out in marriage?” He said over the rear mirror “You must see me as a bad father, don't you? Do you think I am happy about this??!” He yelled and drove like a lunatic. Other cars, trees, traffic lights, had become blurry. The wind was choking me.I feared for our lives. “Please, Daddy. Please stop, okay I will do as you want,” as soon as the words left my mouth, the car stopped. Dad leaned over the wheel, “We have gone bank—rupt, Pum— p—kin,” he said with raking shoulders as a loud sob s
“Look Steph, it's not what you think. Dad made the marriage arrangements, Honestly I didn’t ask for it.” I said, aware that I was shoving my Dad under the Bus. I couldn't bear to face Steph’s wrath, she is my twin and I love her more.“Really?” she sneered, as though I was some pest beneath her. I swallowed hardly “If that is true, why didn't you say anything to me? You know how much I love Damian,”‘Love? No Steph, you are obsessed with Damian. You literally have his pictures all over your room,’ I almost said but bit back the words. “I am sorry that you are just getting to know,” I apologized rather “Sorry won't excuse this betrayal!” she yelled, tugging at her hair frantically. Betrayal? I didn’t ask for either for this?!!“Fine!” she grabbed my arms roughly “We must come to an agreement; you will end up with Prince Kareem, and I, with Damian Delance,”“What?” My eyes widened. It wasn't enough that I had to have sleepless night with migraines over the sudden tragedy of my life, an
It was Damian. The human I am to get married to in a few days. What? What is he doing here? Shouldn’t he be at a concert or something?I got more jittery than I was.“Yeah, if it’s no other than the boy who gets to marry her,” the boy sneered at Damian and his protocols.Damian balled his fist, “Touch her one more time and I will make sure that you rot in prison for a long time,” he threatened. By now, all his minions had deserted him. They stood afar off, telling him to let me go.He hesitatingly released me from his grip “Whatever, Mr singer. Just know that this isn’t over yet, and I rule this school now,” he said, nudging Damian as he walked past. Damian grabbed him by the shoulders and flung him to the floor. It happened so fast that my eyes widened. Woah!“Rule the school for all I care, but you will stay away from this girl. My girl,” Damian thundered, before walking to drag me off. What just happened ? I stared at his profile as we walked past the school corridors into an empty
What is Coleman doing? Is he really doing this? “If I don’t have you, nobody else will.” He tried kissing me again but I turned my face away, struggling to get him off me.Goosebumps had washed over me and I smelt danger. His home was in a distant estate and no one was home.“Stop it!” I screamed “Let go of me, Coleman! Don’t do this!" I cried pushing him off me, but he weighed me down and went for my lips. This time he caught it and pushed his tongue in my mouth.Oh, God! This is not happening to me!!!I tried to move away, but he wouldn't let go. He kissed me roughly, and then his hands went under my skirt.I yelped. Jilted. And tried escaping him but Coleman wasn’t thinking. He wasn’t thinking about me or the consequences that could come from this.He didn’t think about my reputation or his. He wanted to have his way. And his way, he will get.I tried pushing him again, but he pinned both of my hands to the bed and used his left hand to unbutton his shirt. He flung it where his tro
