Chapter 21

Renae's POV

I dragged my sore body down to my hideout. It was the only place that came to mind whenever I was in misery.

My body hurt badly and I felt worn out. Walking such a distance was too much for me, but I did it. At this point, I needed to be alone, I needed the comfort that the spot afforded.

Walking through the field of wild lilacs, I closed my eyes savoring its scent. It was like a medicine to my body and soul. I felt relieved instantly and I went ahead cupping some of the petals in my hand.

With a handful of them, I walked slowly around, viewing the surrounding hills. I think the scenery and the scent of wild lilacs are the explanation for the kind of comfort I feel here.

I was carried away by the scenery and when I came around, I was standing in front of the cave where I had treated the Prince.

It was a place I wanted to avoid. I wanted to blot out the memory of that night from my head. My anxiety returned and I stood there staring dreadfully at the entrance of the cave.
