Chapter 53

Logan's POV

Sitting on my patio, I took a sip from the bottle of beer in front of me. Everywhere seemed strangely peaceful. Like the type of pseudo-peace you experienced before the outbreak of war.

It's been a few weeks now and no one knew the small doctor's whereabouts. All the information I got from my men was irrelevant.

I couldn't believe it when Mother lashed out at me. She thought I hid the small doctor because of my confession the other day.

She has loathed me since that day.

"How could you!? How could you confess to love the suspect who almost killed your sister," she sang-song, calling me names.

With my mother's incessant outburst, I had to explain my position to Lian. Well, she said she trusted me and she knew I wouldn't harbor a suspect who almost killed her in my heart and she knew that I didn't hide her either.

My father on the other hand was indifferent. He knew that my profession of love the other day was a lie. He knew I only said it because I was boxed into a corner.
