Chapter 5 Harsh Words From A Hypocrite

I stretched my arms up over my head and opened my eyes in a panic, wondering where in the hell I was.

"You had sex with a hot demon you just met and are in his bed, in his house next door to Lucifer where Noah, your mate is located," Adira reminded me. I squinted my eyes and told her to hush in my aching brain. I tossed the cover off and glanced around the neatly decorated room. I glanced down at my bare breasts and briefly recalled what I'd done the previous evening. I could hear a shower running and assumed that was where Dagon was. I looked around for a closet with clothes so I could borrow a t-shirt. The bathroom door opened and the man from last evening came out in a cloud of steam. His yellow eyes landed on me and he grinned.

"Morning sweetheart, waters hot if you want to shower," he said sincerely and I thanked him and asked for a shirt. He rummaged through his closet and handed me a large plain gray one.

"You can keep it," he said after tossing it to me. I laughed and told him it was a souvenir of my first orgasm. Dagon chuckled softly and told me sure. I hurried quickly into the bathroom and showered thoroughly. Once finished I dried and donned the shirt he'd given me and could smell his scent on the fabric.

"If you can smell him others will be able to as well," my wolf said and I shrugged. I exited the bedroom and found Dagon in his kitchen speaking with a woman. He saw me and waved for me to exit and I gave him a nod.

"I'm not even going to comment," Adira growled and I told her that was a splendid idea. I ran across the brimstone yard, headed towards the front door of Lucifer's home. I walked past the huge glass window and glanced into the living room to see Lilith and Lucifer eyeing me oddly. I saw white hair rushing toward the front door. It opened when I got in front of it and I could see the anger in Noah's eyes so I looked at my feet instead of his frown.

"We were up all night searching for you and you smell like watered down cheap sex and hell wine," he mumbled sourly. I glared at him and told him he smelled like a skank whore. His eyes flashed red but didn't change completely and I shook my head.

"Oh, so it's okay if you fuck anything that comes in your sites but if I want some action it's a horrible faux pas, gotcha. It was totally worth it to actually orgasm," I said sincerely and he grabbed my upper arm and jerked me inside.

"Who was he?" He asked menacingly and I shrank back away from the anger I saw swirling in his eyes. Lucifer headed toward me and sniffed around me.

"Dagon has some explaining to do. He's probably telling his mother that he wants to fight for your hand, Raven. You see, demons rarely ever find their mates so when we meet a partner who fits us well we want to take the claim," Lucifer said sternly as he glared at the dense Noah. Noah was shaking his head and mumbling that no one deserved me. I laughed internally and saw the movement behind me. Dagon had entered the home and handed a document to Lucifer.

"I will take my future bride with me this instant if there are no rivals," he said with a charming smile. I looked at Noah who was growling threateningly and closed my eyes. Lucifer chuckled softly and asked Dagon if he recalled what he told him the previous evening about his grandson. Dagon looked upward as he thought and shrugged.

"I recall but the female isn't marked yet and I have no problem with marking her myself," he said softly and brushed my cheek with his fingertips.

"Wow, the man is a smooth one," my wolf purred and I giggled softly. Lucifer waved toward Noah and explained that he was the demon he was speaking about. Dagon looked over at Noah and shook his head.

"You're such an ignorant fool," he said bluntly and I laughed out loud as Noah grunted in annoyance. Noah scowled and eyed me laughing.

"Seems like the perfect mate for a hussy like you," he spat and I glared at him.

"No more a hussy than you princess," I snapped back and he gritted his teeth.

"I want to go home, Noah's fine and walking on his own and he has his Brenda. I'm going home and staying home. Don't you dare ask for any of my blood because I'm done being your feedbag, Noah and no longer do I consider myself your friend," I cried and looked to Lucifer, pleading with him to make a portal. Dagon looked at us all in pity and frowned. Lucifer waved his hand creating a portal and as I stepped through Dagon said he'd claim me and I believed he would. Noah just stared after me with damp confused eyes. I entered my family's rec room and Ezra and Abby looked at me with concern.

"Is Noah alright?" Abby asked me with worry. I wiped my eyes and said yeah but he and I were no longer friends and turning to my mother I burst into sobs over the words I'd just spoken. She hugged me and told me I could go to her land in Colorado if I need some time away from it all. I nodded as I hugged her back.

"He can't be my mate, mother, he doesn't even believe in them,'' I mumbled sadly and she brushed my hair from my damp face.

"Go gather your things and I'll call Raina to fly you there. You still remember the area right?" She questioned me and I nodded.

"I remember that the area brought you peace. I hope you'll find it once again my child," she mumbled and told me to hurry and pack. I nodded and rushed to my room.

"I can't believe I unfriended Noah," I mumbled softly and Adira growled softly that perhaps it needed to happen.

"I can't believe that you're running away and hiding from him after you said you were going to get him as your mate," she added. I exhaled deeply and told her that his beliefs would make it difficult.

"Do demons experience mate heat?" I asked her curiously and she huffed.

"Demons identify their mate through physical contact. A kiss usually or by blood. That's why I'm confused by Noah. He drinks your blood yearly and I'm certain that the blood bond was caused by you both being mates so I can't understand why he doesn't feel it," Adira whined. I cringed internally and grabbed all my suitcases. My mother's head popped in from behind the door.

"It's going to be winter there as well so bring your warm clothes. I don't know how long you need but you'll be safe there," she said softly and I nodded as I packed a pile of sweaters. I packed jeans and an old pair of snow boots I'd never worn. My brothers Yutu and Aiden helped me carry my bags to the ATVs they were driving me to our airstrip. I hugged both my parents and they wished me well as I climbed aboard the huge plane that my uncle Eric and aunt Raina flew. During the flight, Raina came back to talk with me. I told her everything and she grinned slightly about Dagon. Apparently, she knew him.

"Why do demons' eyes glow red when they look at you?" I asked curiously and she chuckled softly.

"Oh dear, when a demon's eyes turn red when they're looking at you it means that they are attracted to you or very angry. The brighter the red the more they're into you or the angrier they are. Why? Do Noah's eyes turn red?" I nodded with a frown.

"Cheer up, that means you've won half the battle," my wolf growled. I rolled my eyes and rested my head against the seat.

"Sure, he either likes me or hates me," I growled. Raina placed a small bag on my lap and told me to eat. She then announced that she needed to head back to the cockpit so I told her thanks and began removing the wrapped food items. Biting the turkey sandwich I thought about what I needed to do.

"What are you planning on doing at your mom's property? Are you going to become a hermit that lives off their private garden and livestock?" Adira mocked me. I sulked and told her I would need help with the livestock already there and she informed me that my mother had hired workers that stayed in the pack lodge and took care of the entire place. She then suggested I could hire Noah. I grunted that we were no longer friends and she growled saying bullshit. Then a thought came to my mind.

"When will my wolf estrus come? I've met my mate and it should come," I mumbled sourly to my wolf. Adira sighed and explained that my heat won't come until I've reached my full maturity. I rolled my eyes. At twenty I was certain that I was there.

"Not until you're in your mid-twenties dear, you need a mature mind as well as body," she clarified. I shook my head and nibbled on the apple slices included in the lunch my aunt gave me. After eating I watched Raina heading down the rows on her cell phone staring at me. I mouthed what? She covered the receiver and said, "Your ex-friend is trying to find a pack member to infect him. Apparently, he believes if he becomes a werewolf he will no longer need your blood yearly." I shook my head.

"That's because he doesn't believe mates exist," I groaned. Raina's features changed to confusion and she ended the call. I waited for her to say something. She exhaled harshly and told me Dagon was with Noah and the pair now appear to be close confidants.
