Chapter 71- Frenemies

The emcee climbed on to the podium. He clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention.

"We welcome you all to our fundraising event. As we await the arrival of our Chairman, Mr. Slade, who is surely on his way right now. I want all of us to enjoy ourselves" he said as soon as he caught the attention of everyone.

Grace turned around to see who had just walked up behind her. It was Mayor Mount with a hard face.

"Mayor" she said surprisingly. She didn't expect to see him. But this is a party for influential people. She should have expected him.

"I didn't see Raymond around, you two seemed not so close anymore. Did you leave him at home because today is another day the city hunter wish to strike or you have him ingested some sleeping potion" Mayor Mount meant a lot with what he had just said. It was very clear to Grace but she didn't want to acknowledge that.

Luckily, Raymond appeared from the midst of the crowd behind Mayor Mount.
