Chapter forty-five

Jill's POV

Charlie used to be my best friend, and I'd long since forgiven her and David for being together. 

Why hold onto the past?

But seeing her in the supermarket sent me into shock, she's been gone six years. Cut ties with all of us, and now I guess I know why.

The snide comment I made about David not being careful was a low blow, one that shouldn't of came out of my mouth. So offering to listen seemed like the next plausible thing to do.

But nothing could prepare me for everything that came spilling out of her mouth, the life she had as a child would of ruined me forever.

Now I understand why she never stuck around to let David explain, I wouldn't of stayed either.

Fight or flight instincts kick in and I would of ran too.

No one needs that much hurt and destruction in their life. How she's still standing and raising a child on her own put me in utter amazement.
