Chapter 23

Before George could finish his sentence, the woman interrupted, asking if he had seen her lipstick that she thought she had tossed in his pocket earlier. This caused him to pause in mid-air and turn his attention towards her.

"Are you sure you did?" he asked, searching through his pocket and eventually pulling out a red lipstick. The woman seemed satisfied as she snatched it from his grip, while George appeared confused. "I don't remember you tossing anything in my pocket," he said, scratching his head in bewilderment.

"Well, it's your fault for not paying attention," she teased.

I found myself intrigued by the words George had been about to say before the woman interrupted. It seemed like she had deliberately cut him off to prevent him from revealing something, and I wondered why.

"So tell me, Avery," George said, his eyes shifting from his woman to me with a mischievous glint. As he opened his mouth to speak, I could sense the curiosity in his voice. "How was your honeymoon?"
