Thief

She is holding a box of cake. Her smile drops when she sees who opened the door. I quickly regained my composure and tried to mask my surprise with a friendly smile.

"Hi?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"What are you doing here?" she said, racing her one eyebrow.

What is her name again? Juls? Julie?

"Are you a thief?!" She pushed the door hard, so I was thrown a bit by what she did and sat on the floor.

She quickly ran past me into the house, leaving me confused and shocked. I realized then that she must have mistaken me for someone else. She looked at me angrily, letting me know she had misunderstood the situation.

"I'm not a thief," I clarified.

I tried to find the correct answer. What should I say if Trence lets me live with him? I need to clear this up before it gets out of hand. I must find a way to explain the situation to this woman and make things right.

"I will call the security guard!" she hysterically dialed her phone.

I could see the fear and distrust in her eyes
