Chapter 1

The airport was stacked with people coming and going. Some are saying welcome, and the others saying goodbye. Few got this huge smile on their face, and others got a sad goodbye smile on their face.

I observed it. I've always been an excellent observer. Almost every moment caught by my eyes, I remembered. Some of them are pleasant, some were not.

But everyone has a flaw. Mine is my father. I remembered him.

Every. Single. Thing. About him.

His face, his voice, his habit, even his favorite clothes. What I can't remember is his name. I couldn't for the life of me remember it. I don't know why, or how. It just seems impossible to me.

I watch my steps as I climbed up the stairs. 5 sets of stairs passed, and my breathing doesn't even fasten.

I checked my boarding pass, gate 2, and I'm at gate 9. I have no choice but to walk to gate 2.

Halfway there my phone buzz, indicating a call from mom. Here we go.

I put on a fake smile and answer it, "Hey, mom."

"Must you put me as your 'mom'?" I hear my best friend, Scout, groaning on the other end.

Scout was recruited a year after I did. He's a fast learner, so he and I finished our training together. Even so, his scores were far above mine at the physical test, while I beat him on the intelligent and specialty test.

I roll my eyes, "Yes, mom."

"You know, something like 'your best of the best best friend' would not be suspicious... right?" I lift my eyebrow.

"I could literally see your perfect eyebrow shooting up right now."

"I could literally see your perfect eyes rolling right now," I shot back, forgetting the mother-daughter charade for a moment.

"Don't use that tone on me, daughter," He says, pretending to sound like a woman. I roll my eyes again, but can't hold back the smile that comes after.

"Just tell me what you want, mom."

"Alright, alright. Mr. Crawford wants me to check on you."

"Bet he did," I said, mumbling. Mr. Crawford is my division's head, the Spy Division.

There are 5 divisions in La Reu Inc.--our organization's cover name, SD, AD, WD, ID, and ATD. First is The SD (Spy Division) or my division. Our job is of course to collect, keep, and guard all the information La Reu needs. More than that, we are also placed undercover in other organizations like us and the government. Scout and I were placed in the government, me as a therapist and Scout as a marine. But over the last year, they promoted him to general.

Second, The AD (Assassin Division) is in charge of getting rid of everyone and everything that gets in La Reu's way. The head of the AD is Mr. Stryker, a bulky guy with tanned skin that always got a knife hidden in his boot. Others might not notice, but as one of the SD's best agents, I do.

Both SD and AD get their weapons and tools from the WD (Weapon Division). Their job is to make every weapon and tool the SD and AD needs, and might I add, test them. Their superior is actually a fun and easy-going guy with huge glasses and a handsome face called Mr. West.

The only division that has no weapons and fewer people with fighting skills is the ID (Intelligence Division), they handle information, strategy, and new agent's training methods. So they are in charge of the ATD. They are also La Reu's advisors. Their boss is the first woman that made it as one of the division's heads, Mrs. Saxe. A woman with a beautiful face and amazing personality.

The last division is the ATD or the Agent in Training Division. The ATD has 2 subdivisions, Junior Agents are those who had just been recruited and are in basic training. While Agents that have already finished their training and passed the last test are the Senior Agents. They are trusted with small missions with a superior.

We all have been in this division for at least 2 years before we are assigned to one of the other 4 divisions until we retired or killed.

"Tell him I'm fine. No boys have harassed me here, not yet anyway." My voice is stern as I say that. That means 'I have no trouble getting in the airport even with a bag full of weapons'.

"Well, we got 3 other agents on the flight with you. You'll be fine, just stay away from trouble"

Chuckling, "Even if I stay away from it, it won't stay away from me. I'm like a magnet for trouble. Everywhere I go, they're always behind me. Waiting for the time to show themselves."

"Yeah, okay miss trouble. Good luck"

"Kay, mom" He groans while I chuckle.

I hung up.

Checking my surrounding, I realize I'm already at gate 4 right now. Just a little more.

After a few steps, my phone buzzes again. I look at my screen, "mom"

What does he want now?

"What is it, mom?" I whine.

"I forgot to tell you, Kelly is one of the agents on the flight with you"

"Wait, Kelly Crawford?" I beam. Kelly is also my best friend and yes, she is my boss's daughter. She, me, and Scout went through training together. We supported each other and practiced together. After we pass the last test, we went on a lot of missions together. Until our years to be an active agent done. Scout and I were sent to be an undercover agent—our specialty, while Kelly was sent to be an assassin—her specialty.

"Well, yeah really."

"Okay, okay. Now I'm excited. Where is she?"

"That's classified, agent," He said—using Mr. Crawford's stoic tone. I roll my eyes.

"Fine, I'll find her myself," I say, pouting.

"Alright, sweetheart. I'll call you before take-off."

"Kay, bye," He hung up this time.

At last, I arrived at gate 2. I sat down on an empty seat. I pulled out my laptop and continued to read the ebook I started a week ago.

3 chapters went by fast, one more chapter, and this book is going to my archives. Wow, I swear it feels like I just started this book yesterday.

A few paragraphs away from the end, something buzz in my pocket. Scowling, I pull out my phone and look at the screen.

"Your favorite ❤️"

Ughhh, all 3 of them put their names as "Your favorite" how am I supposed to know which of them are calling right now?

"Hey, cinnamon sugar."

Diego. We met a year after I was assigned as an undercover. He's my neighbor. We met when his cat run away and he was asking door to door did anyone see his cat—Jolly.

Long story short, I helped him search for his cat. And then we still talk even after we found his cat who just took a nap under his car.

He then became the little brother I always wanted.

"Did you just woke up?"

"Yeah, pretty sure am" he laughs at the other end, "are you at the airport?"

"Yeah, it's too crowded for my liking," I say, pouting.

"Sis, even a quiet library is too crowded for you"

I laugh, "true."

"Okay, I'm going showering. Be careful, alright? Tell me if someone tries to flirt with you," He says in a serious tone and I laugh, "Sir, yes, sir."

We laugh for a few seconds before I hung up. Still smiling, I text him "Go shower, I could smell you from here :p"

A few seconds later his reply comes, "Yes, ma'am :p"

An announcement rings out, calling all passengers on board. I snatch my backpack that lies on the floor next to me and quickly get up. As we line up, someone bumps into me and dropped something into my pocket.

She was wearing a white panda shirt with a leather jacket and ripped blue jeans. She also wears a pink cap with "Girl" writing on it. Kelly.

I played along, "Hey, watch where you were going!" She muttered sorry before walking to the back of the line.

I placed my bag on the floor next to me and crouch down, pretending to tie my perfectly tied sketchers. Without anyone noticing, I opened the small piece of paper Kelly dropped into my pocket earlier.

"3 wolves 1 eagle, 4th front, 2nd 3rd 7th behind, b careful"

Translation... "3 assassins and one spy; 4th person in front of me; 2nd, 3rd, and 7th person behind me; be careful"

This is it.

After 5 months of keeping a low profile.

I'm ready.
