I waited for his audacity to comment on my nerdy tastes, but he didn't say anything, he just watched me fight against the damn zipper of the backpack and get it after an arduous battle for it to close again.

"Accepting help doesn't kill anyone, Tasha," he said, and stood up when everything was already back in my backpack. As if it wasn't enough that everyone in the lobby was looking, he still stretched out his hand to get up. "I think we're going in the same direction. Do you want a ride?”

I got up with difficulty, vehemently refusing his outstretched hand. I had to hold the backpack against my chest so as not to let the contents fall once again, since the clasp still seemed very unstable, and because I was not sure to put it on my shoulders. So I noticed the looks. From the group of men who were talking to Flynn, to the employees who were leaving for lunch. Everyone just stopped to face it and didn't bother me at all that I had noticed.
