Chapter 22

Laura woke up with a start and muttered to herself, "I almost forgot I have to be at the house today." Her heart raced with realizing the day's expected agenda, and she quickly exited the bed.

As she glanced towards the closed bathroom door, the sound of running water echoed through the air, and she realized that Daniel was taking his bath. "Alright then, let me pick out my clothes for the day," she said quietly.

Laura took a little time to choose her outfit, and by the time Daniel walked out of the bathroom, she was ready. But he refused to answer her greeting, and she ignored his behavior.

She dashed into the bathroom and sank into the warm embrace of the bath, feeling grateful and excited about her new car. When she was all done, walking out of the room, she met her father-in-law, Edward Reynolds, in the hallway.

"Up so early, Laura?" he said, striding towards her. "Where are you going?" he asked with a smile.

"I'm off to the plaza, Dad; I have some appointments," she said calmly.
