I rose to my feet with my drink in hand and paced around waiting for the visitor to be brought in. When a light tap came at the entrance door, I gestured at one of my guards inside to open the door.

As soon as he did, one of my men ushered the person in; it turned out to be an old, haggard-looking woman.

Give or take, she would be in her early or late 60s.

I watched her walk in with an air of pride and something else I couldn't place my hand on.

My jaw steeled, "Who are you, and what brings you to my pack?" I asked curiously as I looked her up from head to toe.

"Alpha Federick, first of all, I am sorry for the loss of your brother."

I narrowed my eyes. What arrogance! Had she just ignored the two questions I asked and only said what she felt like saying? Come to think of it, how did she know of my brother's death? I hadn't made it public in my pack yet. Only a few people knew about it, people I trusted which include my lead warriors and my firearms manufacturers.
