One Night Mistake

I Found You

A man looked at a pile of resumes belonging to a job applicant who was about to fill the position with his new secretary, since his old secretary–Robi, had resigned. This is his sixth secretary since serving as CEO of Richmond Corp, a company owned by his family.

Most of them resigned because they could not stand Brian’s arbitrary attitude, plus the inhumane working hours because the man had extraordinary workaholic tendencies.

He took a deep breath, choosing to keep himself busy with other work. That was much more important than just reading the resumes, which were quite a lot. He was so serious, without realizing that an old man had been watching him from the doorway.

He is Immanuel Regan, the father of the man who is now working seriously—Brian Regan. The old man walked over, then sat right on the sofa not far from Brian’s desk. “Did everything go well, Bri?” he asked in a deep voice.

Realizing that there were other people in his room, Brian could only sigh. “Why don’t you knock on the door first, Dad?”

“Does it have to be like that if a father wants to meet his child?”

“But this is an office, a place to work, not a place to say goodbye to father and son.” He said sarcastically, without even turning to his father.

Immanuel really likes hard workers like Brian, but he thinks what his son is doing is too much. “Smith said you didn’t come home last night—”

“Did he also tell you what color my panties were?” Brian cut in a curt tone.

“Bri—”

“Stop spying on me! I already did what you wanted, is this still not enough?”

Immanuel shook his head slowly. “Bri, it’s not like that—”

“Get straight to the point. What do you want to tell me?”

Brian’s guess was right, it’s just that Immanuel didn’t fully come to say his point. Immanuel came because he really missed his son, who now feels increasingly distant because of his busy life. “Me and your mom miss you, come home sometime—”

“I’m busy,” Brian interjected.

“Just take a little of your time, Bri … your mom really misses you.”

Brian, who had been focusing on work, finally decided to stop for a while. “That’s okay.”

Hearing that, how happy Immanuel was at that moment. “Really? What a coincidence that tonight Mr. Jade’s daughter will come to visit. Meet that girl. Who knows, maybe it’s suitable—” His words stopped when he saw the look of disapproval on Brian’s face.

“Stop matchmaking me, Dad!”

“If it’s not like this, you won’t be looking for a future wife because you’re too busy. Don’t you feel sorry for your parents who are getting old, huh?”

Hearing that Brian chuckled, he still didn’t understand what his parents had wanted from him all this time. “Didn’t you guys ask me to just focus on being the successor of the company and forget about my dream? I already did. So please stop forcing me to do what I don’t want.”

“But Bri-“

“Go home, Dad! I’m going home, but not for an arranged marriage, but only to meet mom.”

Immanuel was at a loss for words at this point. He didn’t know what else to persuade his son to do and get married soon. He then rose from his place. “Okay. If you object to an arranged marriage, please find your own match and bring her to us. Or would you prefer to see us both die without being able to tell whether you will have a successor or not.”

After saying that, Immanuel walked away, leaving Brian, who was now annoyed. This is not the first time this match has happened. They have even set him up on blind dates several times, making him decide to live independently, so he doesn’t get stuck.

It's not that he is gay, it’s just that there is a woman who has occupied her heart and feelings for the past 8 years. Unfortunately, he did not know the whereabouts of the woman.

 “Aaaaarrrgh!”

He threw away all the files that were on his desk. All the files that had piled up on the table, scattered on the floor. Instantly, the atmosphere of his office room became chaotic. However, his eyes stared at something familiar. A photo of a woman on one of the Resumes, whose face he can never forget, even though it’s been 8 years.

“God! I finally found you,” he muttered. He immediately contacted someone in HRD. This time, he would no longer let go of the woman who had been responsible for the chaos in his life so far. “Hello, I’ve found my secretary. Please come to my room immediately and prepare everything.”

***

A woman stepped awkwardly. This is the first time a company has hired her to work in a long time. At a desk bearing the name ‘Brian Regan’, a man was sitting with his back to her. He is the CEO of Richmond Corp, the largest corporation in the country, but due to the lack of information about him, he seems very mysterious.

Suddenly, that morning, the Richmond Corp contacted her, even though she thought her chance to work at a company this big would never come, considering that it had been one week since she had not received a call from any company.

What made her even more distrustful, when she arrived at the company, she immediately got a long-term job offer with a fantastic salary. How could she refuse? Especially now that her remaining savings are almost gone.

With a broad smile, she tried to convince herself that this time it was real. Not the kind of dream she usually gets at night. “Good morning Mr. Brian. I’m Elise Galloway, your new secretary.”

The man turned around. Suddenly, Elise was surprised when she saw a familiar face.

“Hi,” said the man, grinning at Elise, who was now staring at her with her mouth agape.

 “Y-you—”

“Judging by your reaction, it looks like you still remember me, huh… Elisabeth Galloway. Maybe you also still remember my body.” The woman named Elisabeth Galloway was about to get up from her place, but the man quickly approached her and stopped her steps, leading Elise back to where she was. “Tsk-ck-ck… why are you like a dog, anyway? It’s so good to run away like in the old days,” he sneered.

“I-it was a long time ago… Let’s forget about it,” she whispered with a frightened expression.

“It’s been a long time, but… Because of that incident I had to end up like this, locked up. Now, you have to pay for everything!”

 “W-what are you—”

“Shut up, or I will tell everyone what happened between us,” he threatened as he pulled Elise out of his room.

That incident has already passed, exactly 8 years ago, when a misunderstanding made the two of them unable to forget each other, a time when both of them were too young to understand what happened between the two of them.

Who would have thought that Elise would meet him again after such a long time. “Actually, where are you taking me?” asked Elise, who was scared, especially when Brian forcefully forced her into his luxury car.

“Of course, to my house. Where do you think?”

Hearing that, how scared Elise was. She still remembers the incident 8 years ago, when she thought she had lost her virginity. “W-what do you want to do? I don’t want to! I just want to resign!”

“No, you have already signed a contract with our company. Unless you can afford the fine.”

Elise was speechless. Let alone paying the fine, she couldn’t even afford the rent on her apartment pay, which was soon due. “I beg you… don’t do this to me. Are you still dissatisfied after successfully snatching my virginity?”

This time it was Brian who was surprised to hear that. What Elise said was utter nonsense. But seeing the fear in the woman’s eyes, he didn’t intend to deny it at all and instead wanted to use it to play a trick on her.

 “No.”

 “Bastard!”

 “Thank you for the compliment.”

 “You freak!”

Elise couldn’t do anything but surrender. She didn’t know what else to do at this point but surrender and wait for an opportunity to escape. Meanwhile, Brian, that man, was actually laughing in his heart. He was very satisfied because he finally managed to find Elise again and was able to repay her. Paying for all the suffering he has gotten so far as a result of that night’s incident.
