Brian couldn't fall asleep all night. Elise did not go anywhere and did not do anything in her apartment, according to her assistant, Jhon. However, he still felt annoyed that she dared to yell at him. He, who had always been on top of things, certainly did not accept her humiliation.
Brian lay on his bed, eyes wide open, looking up at the dark ceiling. He felt something was different. He felt disturbed, uncomfortable. He felt a loss of control, something he had never felt before. He was used to being in control, making others follow his wishes. But Elise, she was different. She dared to go against him, and that made him feel uncomfortable.
How could she yell at him and disobey his orders? It really annoyed him and he really wanted to scold her. Unfortunately, until the morning she had not come to the mansion.
The man couldn't sleep. He kept thinking about Elise, the woman who dared to go against him. He felt angry, but at the same time, he also felt curious. What made him choose a defiant woman like her? Was it perhaps because she was different from most women he had met? Even so, it didn't mean that he was willing for her to step on his pride. He also made this agreement just so that his parents who asked him to get married soon would stop doing that.
Brian got up from his bed still feeling disoriented. He walked to the dining room, where all the servants were waiting with the food ready. Usually, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and warm pancakes would lift his spirits, but today was different.
Brian sat at the dining table, his gaze blank. The waitress tried her best to serve him, serving his favorite breakfast dishes: pancakes with honey and berries, and hot black coffee. However, Brian seemed uninterested. He was annoyed, and it showed in his expression.
"Is everything all right, sir?" asked one of the waiters cautiously.
Brian turned to him, looking at him sharply. "What do you mean by alright?" replied Brian in a sharp voice.
"Sorry, sir. We just wanted to make sure that you were comfortable," said the waiter in a soft voice.
"You want to make sure that I'm comfortable? Do you think that you can control my life?" Brian was getting angrier, and his voice was getting louder.
The servants became frightened. They didn't know what to do. One of them tried to calm Brian down. "Forgive us, sir. We just want to help you feel comfortable," the waiter said in a soft voice.
"Shut your mouths and just work. You're making me sick and losing my appetite."
After venting his anger at the waiters, Brian felt a little calm, but he was still unhappy. He felt that he had to take action. He had to settle this matter with Elise, and he had to do it as quickly as possible or everyone would be affected.
Seeing that the servants were scared, Robert, as the butler, immediately asked them to leave the room and give Brian space to talk to him alone.
After the servants left, Robert sat beside Brian with great concern. "Sir, is there anything I can help you with?" Robert asked kindly.
Brian looked at Robert blankly, as if searching for an answer to the question weighing on his mind. "I'm looking for a way to control something," Brian finally said.
Robert nodded. "What kind of something, sir?"
"Something that I should be able to control, but I feel out of control," Brian replied.
Robert thought about Brian's question for a moment. "Perhaps you could explain in more detail, sir?"
She sighed. "I had a problem with someone, and she made me feel uncomfortable. I can't control the situation, and it's upsetting me."
Robert nodded in understanding. "Perhaps I can help, sir. But, I apologize if I don't understand. What do you mean by controlling?"
Brian looked at Robert with a sharp gaze. "I have a pet dog, and he's starting to go wild. I can't control him anymore. How do I tame him?"
His butler was surprised to hear the man's question, as the master didn't have any pets, especially dogs. "But, sir... you don't have a dog-"
"If you can't give me an answer, just say so. You're wasting my time too!"
Robert tried to catch his breath but it was too late to run away while saying sorry. "Sir, I think the best way to tame a dog is to give it enough attention and affection. You have to understand the dog's needs and give it enough exercise. I think the same can be applied to the situation you are facing."
Brian nodded, contemplating Robert's words. "Affection, huh?"
"Yes, sir. Affection is, of course, indispensable."
"Well, now I know what to do."
Robert smiled. "I'm happy to be of help, Sir. Is there anything I can do to help you further?"
"Please prepare a large bouquet of roses and also a piece of jewelry, a bracelet or necklace."
"M-sorry, sir?"
"Are you deaf?"
Robert shook his head softly. "N-no, sir."
The man immediately rushed to find what Brian wanted. Although he honestly didn't understand what a pet dog had to do with flowers and jewelry.
A man looked at a pile of resumes belonging to a job applicant who was about to fill the position with his new secretary, since his old secretary–Robi, had resigned. This is his sixth secretary since serving as CEO of Richmond Corp, a company owned by his family. Most of them resigned because they could not stand Brian’s arbitrary attitude, plus the inhumane working hours because the man had extraordinary workaholic tendencies. He took a deep breath, choosing to keep himself busy with other work. That was much more important than just reading the resumes, which were quite a lot. He was so serious, without realizing that an old man had been watching him from the doorway. He is Immanuel Regan, the father of the man who is now working seriously—Brian Regan. The old man walked over, then sat right on the sofa not far from Brian’s desk. “Did everything go well, Bri?” he asked in a deep voice.Realizing that there were other people in his room, Brian could only sigh. “Why don’t you knock on
When Brian was dragging Elise, all eyes were on them. Everyone looked at Brian with fearful eyes. Various assumptions were made, up to the news that their boss's new secretary had just been or would soon be punished. Gossip circulated, so quickly, that Elise had seduced Brian. Elise noticed tens of pairs of eyes looking annoyed at her. He was no less annoyed because Brian walked straight without faltering and kept on grabbing her wrists. "Let me go!" Elise tried to snap her hands away from the cold man. However, Brian's grip did not loosen in the slightest. "You just need to sit pretty in this car, what's the problem?" Brian asked curtly. He forced Elise to sit in the back seat and closed the door. Then he turned around and sat beside her, while the driver started driving the four-wheeled vehicle towards the residence of the Regan Family. “What do you want exactly? Why should I come to your house? Do you need a secretary to vacuum the toilet at your parents' house? Huh!” Elise si
Brian stared at the woman, he didn't have the slightest desire to tell her in detail what happened to Elise or else the woman would know that right now he was going to take advantage of her. “You don't need to know what happened, you only need to know one thing. As a consequence, when you left me at that time, I had to go to face my parents."The answer is actually less satisfactory for Elise. "If it's because of what happened that night, I will explain to them that it was all my fault and I will apologize. Really, I won't hold you accountable for what happened that night." "You're trying to negotiate with me, huh?" The woman nodded slightly. "Yes-" “Sorry, negotiations failed. The decision can no longer be reversed, you must become my lover and meet my parents. End of discussion.""But how long will this agreement last? Come on! My fault is not that big! There's no way you're going to keep me in this predicament for too long, right?” Brian tried to think for a moment. He needed
It was Elise's first day at work as Brian's secretary, assistant and contract lover. different from what she thought, the man was quite professional when it came to work, he didn't even prepare a special desk like men usually do in romance novels.Elise sat in her usual chair and desk, nothing special. She was happy because it meant that this was still normal and reasonable, she could work comfortably with the company. For now, what was on her priority list was to be debt-free. Just thinking about it made her happy. "Even if the method is wrong, the result is the same," she muttered. The woman hummed a little as she tidied up her new desk, not noticing that the other employees who had been jealous of her when she was held by Brian earlier were looking at her sarcastically as they gossiped."I wonder what she showed Mr. Brian that she became his favorite.""I don't think it's the chest, just look at how small it is, it's still big on me," said another."The hips and the back are also v
As per Elise and Brian's agreement, in the afternoon he ordered a bodyguard to take Elise to her home.Brian certainly wouldn't let her go home alone, he couldn't just trust Elise. They may have signed a contract, but for him it wasn't enough to earn her trust."Do you have to order a bodyguard like this? I'm not going to run away," Elise protested.Brian tried to ignore her, he continued his busy schedule and reluctantly turned his head towards Elise. "Who can trust you? You've already escaped from my bed eight years ago, so no one can vouch for that, right?""But--""I don't accept rejection, Elisabeth Galloway," Brian said firmly. He didn't want to risk Elise running away like she did eight years ago, he really needed her to be there right now. "Jack, stay with her until morning, take her straight to my mansion tomorrow.""Yes, Mr. Brian."Elise was reluctant to argue, she felt it was just futile. She quickly left Brian's room, while behind her, Jack followed her footsteps. Suddenl
Brian checked his cell phone, perhaps there was an incoming message from Jhon who he had assigned to look after Elise - he thought. However, until he arrived at his mansion, the man still hadn't given him any news. "I should have saved that woman's number earlier," he whispered when he realized he hadn't saved the number of Elise, his contract lover."What's wrong, sir? Is there a problem?" asked his assistant, Robi."Try calling Jhon.""Yes, sir."The man immediately contacted his coworker. Before long, he answered the call. "Hello, Robi," he greeted him."Sir wants to talk to you.""Okay."Robi handed Brian his cell phone, and he grabbed it impatiently. "Hello.""Yes, sir?""What's that woman doing?""Miss Elise is still in her apartment, sir. But a woman left recently. It seems it was a friend of hers.""Give her your cell phone, I want to talk.""Yes, sir." Jhon immediately walked towards Elise's apartment unit, he knocked on the door several times until finally the woman came out
