My Pet

Brian couldn't fall asleep all night. Elise did not go anywhere and did not do anything in her apartment, according to her assistant, Jhon. However, he still felt annoyed that she dared to yell at him. He, who had always been on top of things, certainly did not accept her humiliation.

Brian lay on his bed, eyes wide open, looking up at the dark ceiling. He felt something was different. He felt disturbed, uncomfortable. He felt a loss of control, something he had never felt before. He was used to being in control, making others follow his wishes. But Elise, she was different. She dared to go against him, and that made him feel uncomfortable.

How could she yell at him and disobey his orders? It really annoyed him and he really wanted to scold her. Unfortunately, until the morning she had not come to the mansion.

The man couldn't sleep. He kept thinking about Elise, the woman who dared to go against him. He felt angry, but at the same time, he also felt curious. What made him choose a defiant woman like her? Was it perhaps because she was different from most women he had met? Even so, it didn't mean that he was willing for her to step on his pride. He also made this agreement just so that his parents who asked him to get married soon would stop doing that.

Brian got up from his bed still feeling disoriented. He walked to the dining room, where all the servants were waiting with the food ready. Usually, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and warm pancakes would lift his spirits, but today was different.

Brian sat at the dining table, his gaze blank. The waitress tried her best to serve him, serving his favorite breakfast dishes: pancakes with honey and berries, and hot black coffee. However, Brian seemed uninterested. He was annoyed, and it showed in his expression.

"Is everything all right, sir?" asked one of the waiters cautiously.

Brian turned to him, looking at him sharply. "What do you mean by alright?" replied Brian in a sharp voice.

"Sorry, sir. We just wanted to make sure that you were comfortable," said the waiter in a soft voice.

"You want to make sure that I'm comfortable? Do you think that you can control my life?" Brian was getting angrier, and his voice was getting louder.

The servants became frightened. They didn't know what to do. One of them tried to calm Brian down. "Forgive us, sir. We just want to help you feel comfortable," the waiter said in a soft voice.

"Shut your mouths and just work. You're making me sick and losing my appetite."

After venting his anger at the waiters, Brian felt a little calm, but he was still unhappy. He felt that he had to take action. He had to settle this matter with Elise, and he had to do it as quickly as possible or everyone would be affected.

Seeing that the servants were scared, Robert, as the butler, immediately asked them to leave the room and give Brian space to talk to him alone.

After the servants left, Robert sat beside Brian with great concern. "Sir, is there anything I can help you with?" Robert asked kindly.

Brian looked at Robert blankly, as if searching for an answer to the question weighing on his mind. "I'm looking for a way to control something," Brian finally said.

Robert nodded. "What kind of something, sir?"

"Something that I should be able to control, but I feel out of control," Brian replied.

Robert thought about Brian's question for a moment. "Perhaps you could explain in more detail, sir?"

She sighed. "I had a problem with someone, and she made me feel uncomfortable. I can't control the situation, and it's upsetting me."

Robert nodded in understanding. "Perhaps I can help, sir. But, I apologize if I don't understand. What do you mean by controlling?"

Brian looked at Robert with a sharp gaze. "I have a pet dog, and he's starting to go wild. I can't control him anymore. How do I tame him?"

His butler was surprised to hear the man's question, as the master didn't have any pets, especially dogs. "But, sir... you don't have a dog-"

"If you can't give me an answer, just say so. You're wasting my time too!"

Robert tried to catch his breath but it was too late to run away while saying sorry.  "Sir, I think the best way to tame a dog is to give it enough attention and affection. You have to understand the dog's needs and give it enough exercise. I think the same can be applied to the situation you are facing."

Brian nodded, contemplating Robert's words. "Affection, huh?"

"Yes, sir. Affection is, of course, indispensable."

"Well, now I know what to do."

Robert smiled. "I'm happy to be of help, Sir. Is there anything I can do to help you further?"

"Please prepare a large bouquet of roses and also a piece of jewelry, a bracelet or necklace."

"M-sorry, sir?"

"Are you deaf?"

Robert shook his head softly. "N-no, sir."

The man immediately rushed to find what Brian wanted. Although he honestly didn't understand what a pet dog had to do with flowers and jewelry.
