Marco’s POV

As I watched Scarlett storm out of the room, her footsteps echoing down the corridor, a wave of remorse washed over me. The weight of my decision to keep her in the dark about my plans had become too heavy to bear. I had acted out of love and a desire to shield her from pain, but now I could see the damage it had caused.

Guilt consumed me as I replayed our conversation in my mind. I had failed to understand that protecting Scarlett didn't mean shutting her out.
