Twisted.

“It was so frustrating.” I lamented as I relayed the events of the past months to Diane.

“I made you go through this, I'm sorry.”

“It isn't your fault, you had no option but to stay back.”

“So what happened when you met him at Dave's?”

“What do you expect? He acted like I didn't exist.” I shrugged making an effort to brush off the stinging impact it had been on me. “Enough of me. What about you? How are you managing?” I switched the course of the discussion.

“I just got a job as a personal assistant,” Diane declared

“Congratulations babe.”

“You know. Xavier came over today.”

“Tell me more.”

Diane was about to speak when the doorbell rang.

Darting towards the door, I cut through her words. “Give me a minute, please. I think the delivery is at the door.”

Standing from the sofa I trudged towards the door and the bell rang again. When I eventually unlocked the door, regret washed through me as I blamed myself for not checking through the peephole.
