2- Sales Jobs (WNLYG)

(Four years later, San Francisco)

"Emerald Julie Aaron?" The receptionist called her and she stood up straightening her skirt. This was the fourth interview today.

They all did seem quite impressed with her knowledge and personality.

But she did not have any prior experience in the sales field. For her, this was the only field that could make her rich in lesser time.

She had to take care of Sophia's education, and her upbringing. She did not want any more help from Levisays. They had already done a lot.

When she was doing her bachelor's, they took care of Sophia along with their kids.

Hunter Levisay wanted her to work in his office. Abigail Levisay offered her to work in her furniture showroom but she wanted to do something on her own.

One month back she already resigned from her governess job. Though as a governess, she was paid handsomely with lots of perks. Abigail never let her feel that she was a governess there. She got her due share of respect as Patricia's friend.

Her only purpose in life was to earn more than a decent salary. Once Sophia will start her schooling then she could pursue her Master’s degree in business.

When she entered the office she stopped. She was expecting a panel of four to five people.

But a middle-aged man who was partially bald and of medium height was sitting there.

"Ms. Aaron? Please have a seat." He smiled professionally before going through her documents and introduced himself as Mathew.

"We went through your resume, Ms. Aaron. I think you are perfect for the job. The only hindrance is your lack of experience."

Oh, God! Not again.

She did try to hide the disappointment but the man caught it there.

"What I can do for you is... I can talk to our CEO. IF he would allow us then we can talk further about it. RW Corporation is expanded throughout the USA. That's the reason we are looking for more sales representatives."

"Mr. Mathew. I promise. I won't fail you. I just want one chance. I assure you, that’s all I need."

Well. How worse it could get. Now she was begging people for her job and that was extremely unprofessional.

Hunter did advise her never to show her desperation.

“I am sorry, Hunter.” She silently asked for his forgiveness.

After the interview when she came out of the building first thing she did was to send a message to her friend Daniel who was out of the city for some office work.

[Hey, Daniel. How are you? I am done with the interviews for today. I guess you were right. All of them are after my experience.]

Her phone beeped when she got the instant reply.

[Don’t lose hope, Em. That's the reason I told you to join me in West Garden. The company would have provided you with the hands-on experience.]

Daniel was a manager of this small company West Garden company which dealt in small estates and properties. He had a good relationship with his boss.

Daniel had been her class fellow for two years, sharing just one subject’s classes, and had been in love with her for the last four years. Emerald did try to accept his love and the ring he was more than willing to offer.

Daniel Bradford was crazy about her and wanted to marry her, even though he found it a little unsettling when she told him clearly that she did not want a relationship nor she was interested in having a bed partnership.

Unexpectedly he did understand and never forced her to do anything.

Emerald, sometimes used to get irritated that why he was so perfect. Every time he used to be so caring and so thoughtful about her

About her feelings.

But...

Emerald could not bring herself to love him. Though she did try.

She could not get the man out of her mind who spent fifteen days with her in Turkey.

It was not about her. It was about her heart...

Pushing the unwanted thoughts away from her mind she called Selina.

She received her call on the first ring.

"Hey. How is Sophia doing? I hope she is not keeping you on your toes."

"You are stupid, Emerald. Why would Sophie do it? She is such a sweet soul. Right now she is taking her nap. How were your interviews?"

"I don't know. They seemed happy and wanted to offer me this job but you know well about my lack of experience."

"Hey. Don't worry. Ok? They will call you. I am sure of that." Her friend tried to cheer her up.

"By the way, there is bad news, Em." She could hear the sadness in Selina's voice.

"Why? What happened? You got your periods?"

"Shut up! No. It’s about tomorrow's party."

"What about that?" Emerald stopped herself from rolling her eyes. She was least interested in that party.

"I just came to know. Rafael Wyatt won't be attending it."

The moment she let out the forbidden name Emerald stood still.

Rafael Wyatt.

The name that caused her hurt and misery years back.

He was the reason Emerald never attended the annual party despite Abigail's insistence.

Thankfully he never visited them or never stayed at their place.

But used to attend this party with a different date every year.

Every year Abigail Levisay used to invite her and every time Emerald had to decline the invitation politely.

She did not find it in her to face the man. Walking tiredly, she went to the cab stand. Gosh, she was missing Sophia.

"Sir. We have taken the interviews. Up till now, we have chosen seven candidates who we thought have a spark for sales." Mathew wiped the sweat with his handkerchief despite sitting in the extremely chilled room.

Rafael Wyatt used to give him these terror attacks. He rarely visited San Francisco, and usually preferred to keep all the communication on calls.

Today's visit was unexpected.

"All of them have prior experience with sales? We don't want any newbie right now, Mathew." He was going through all the files, “There is so much competition in the market.”

"Sir there were two candidates without experience and both of them seemed quite competitive. One of them is a high school boy, James, who wants a part-time. And this girl… Her name is Emerald Julie Aaron. She badly wanted this job and said she would prove herself."

"Hmm." He did not discuss it further and closed the file. The name did ring a familiar bell. Julie Aaron! But there were so many Julie or Julia Aarons.

"Mathew. Hire anyone you like. I just want results." Mathew was seemingly waiting for the discussion to end.

Without wasting a minute he stood up from his seat.

It had been just three years since Rafael Wyatt came into the property business.

The great superstar who was getting crazily popular worldwide because of his looks and movies shocked the world when he announced that he no longer wanted to act.

He owned a production company and their first film was in the process.

The phone on the office desk started ringing.

Matthew quickly went ahead and picked up the receiver, "Hold on, please."

Covering the mouthpiece he mouthed a silent, "Abigail Levisay."

A small smile broke on Rafael's lips.

Mathew never saw him laughing and rarely witnessed the smile. His boss was very close to Hunter and Abigail Levisay. However, he preferred to stay in Sapphire Galaxy Hotel.

"Hey! Angel! How are you?"

Rafael waved a hand to dismiss Mathew.

Picking up the file from the desk, Mathew turned on his heels to leave the office.

"Rafael. Hunter just told me that you have landed in San Francisco yet you are not attending the dinner."

Abigail's stern voice made him chuckle, "I am here because they had stopped the filming of my movie due to some technicalities. Plus now a days we are carrying on interviews for sales representatives for RW Estate and property.  My hands are full."

Every year he used to attend it and every year his heart used to yearn whenever he used to see Hunter's family. Their twin daughters and their son Rowan were his favorite.

“Rafael. You better get your ass here otherwise I might make one or two cases against you.” He was still smiling when he disconnected the call.

It seemed like he had to attend this party. He often missed the girl and could not get her out of his mind who he met four years back in Turkey.

How she was able to see through him when she did not know that he was a movie star. She seemed genuine and he messed up everything. By now he might had his kids.

During those days he had a long, wild beard and mustache, to meet the demands of his movie. Those were the best days of his life. The majority of people could not recognize him due to his hairy face.

Only if he could bring back that naive girl who trusted him.

Leaning back his head he inhaled a long tired breath.

"Julia Aaron. I have been looking for you for four years. Where are you, Harika?"

The phone started ringing again.

"Yes?" He pasted the receiver to his ear and opened his laptop again.

"Hey. Abigail told me you are in San Francisco. Are you going to be at the party?" Rafael frowned and looked at the receiver. News traveled faster than he had expected.

"Ethan! You did not call me to ask about the party. Right?"

"Ah. Yeah. The thing is Rafael... do you need my help in hiring someone?"

Rafael's brows knitted in a second, "Help? What kind of help? Mathew is already helping me."

"No … no. Not that. Hunter asked for my help when he wanted to offer this job to Abigail.  He took my help for making Abigail sign a contract worth two billion. So..."

Rafael didn't know why Ethan was telling him this. “Two billion? Seriously?"

"If you want to hire this certain girl I can help you and I ... assure you... that..."

"Eth!" Rafael cut him in midsentence.

"Yes, Rafael?"

"Shut up!"
