Chapter 31

Liz

The sun shining through the crack in my black out curtains is what woke me. The second thing was the feeling that I was not alone in my bed. With my heart racing and my fight or flight instincts kicking in I carefully flung myself off the bed and fell on the floor in a defensive position. When nothing came at me, I carefully stood up and peered at my bed to see Louise sleeping peacefully.

I let out a heavy breath before walking back over and slipping back in to bed. Louise hasn’t done this in a very long time. The first time was after my mom and I moved in to our house after my father’s death when Louise and I first became friends. She stayed the night and heard me crying in my sleep. She snuck in to my bed to comfort me. Over the years it’s happened less and less.
