Chapter 33 – Becoming a Director

“Are you sure? I’m not really qualified to be a director” Simone questions hesitantly. “I only have a high school diploma and don’t know a thing about business.”

“You are the best candidate we have” Emmett says, putting his arms around her. “Some of the board voiced their opinion. We as a couple would own the majority of shares. They were concerned you would only side with whatever I suggest. I told them they don’t know you. If you don’t like something I say or do; you tell me.”

“I don’t want to interfere with your company” Simone states, moving from Emmett’s embrace and sitting on the end of the bed.

“You won’t be interfering” Emmett says, sitting down next to her. “You will just have a say with what Lester and myself want to do with the company. We need a woman’s perspective on the board. We have gone too long without one.”
