Chapter 37

Emily's POV

I grabbed my hale and hearty baby into my arms as soon as I stepped into her ward, making sure to be careful with the medical cords that were connected to her.

"My darling!" I gushed softly, hugging her, and she giggled, hugging me with superior enthusiasm. "I missed you so much."

"Mummy, I missed you too!" she squealed, her tiny arms wrapped around my neck. "I thought you would not come back, Mama. You stayed away for long."

My eyes watered. I knew that I indeed deserved her accusations.

"I'm so sorry, darling. I had to work," I apologized, but she only pouted, crossing her arms on her chest.

"You always have to work, Mama, yet you rush down here when something happens to me. When will you stop working?"

I smiled at her as she sulked.

"When I can give you a good life, baby," I cooed, and she frowned in confusion before beaming anyway.

"Okay, Mama," she said with an understanding nod. "The doctor said I can leave in three days. Will you stay here with me till then?"
