"Have you completely lost it? What did he do to you? He is your freaking best friend for crying out loud!"

My fingers danced across my phone screen lazily as I listened to my mother scream at me. Surprisingly, she had just found out about Max's imprisonment somehow, and she had refused to let my ears rest since she heard about it.

"I am talking to you, Eric! You even moved him to a much worse prison! What is wrong with you?" she snapped. "Did you even plan to tell me about it before I found out myself, Eric? You've kept that young man in jail for over five weeks, Eric. What height of cruelty!"

I stifled a yawn at her incessant questions, regretting even leaving my room to catch some refreshing air before leaving for the gym later in the evening.

"Answer me!"

My mother's shrill scream caused me to snap my neck in her direction.

"What is the big deal about it, Mum?" I snapped. "He owed me money and got what he deserved. Period!"
