Emily's POV

My breath hitched in my throat at his lewd question.

I shrugged away from his reach and was reaching for the pillows I had forgotten to place in between us when his grip pulled my back and held me in place.

My heart raced as I stared into his eyes, which were dark and unreadable.

"W-What are you doing, Eric?"

He shrugged.

"You did tell them downstairs that your duty was to be there for me, didn't you?" He whispered with a teasing breath, fanning my face.

I shook my head slowly, taking charge of my raging hormones.

"W-we both know that I didn't mean any of that!"

His face darkened, making my fears skyrocket, and I recalled that expression that I had seen in his eyes the last day I spent at the Wilson's mansion before I ran away.

"You did sound pretty convincing to me."

His lips were inches away from mine as he spoke, leaving me unable to move mine in response to his silly accusation.
