CH 42: The Reason

Margaret’s POV

“The police? Why are they calling me?” James asked, looking at me with a questioning gaze.

“Unknown number. What exactly happened, James?” I asked anxiously.

“Let’s find out,” he replied. And we both agreed to find out from the two incoming calls.

I walked away from James and then rushed to receive the incoming call.

“H-hello?” I greeted.

“Hello, are you Mrs. Margaret Oswald?” a woman asked.

“Yes. Who am I speaking to?” I asked.

“My name is Hannah. Thank you for taking my call. I have something to tell you about your son John Oswald,” she said.

“J-John? How is he? Is he with you?”

“Yes, he’s with me right now, but not in the sense that you think. A while ago, my car hit John accidentally because it was pouring at the time and he crossed in front of my car suddenly. He was injured badly, but I have taken him to my house for intensive care and now he is much better. Please forgive me. Once he’s better, I’ll drop him off at your house,” the woman said.
